  1. I have manual steering and at times it's a PIA….. I also have a custom wheel, which is 14 1/2" diameter. The stock wheel is 17", but not really "stylish". Grant finally released a larger diameter (16") aftermarket wheel. Although it was a $45 wheel (cheap….) I wanted the larger diameter. Soooooo……. Here's the wheel After a visit to my local tint/wrap shop for some nice 4D carbon fiber wrap. Cost me a $20 tip..…. The final detail is a chrome lapel pin mounted on the horn button.
  2. Made my own LED reverse/tail lights for my 1:1 `Cuda. Now THAT'S a reverse light! And the LED taillights…...
  3. And in the VERY NEXT POST they run past you and continue the debate! Nothing changes around here! As for the clear-coats, just test-shoot spoons. This way you can offer a simple answer if the question is ever asked in the future.
  4. Thanks….. in 2 weeks we'll have the memorial and move on. Quite literally….. We're going to be house hunting this fall, maybe sooner. The activity never slows down around here! But on a positive note I'll have the Barracuda back on the streets in a day or two. I forgot 2 pieces at work today, otherwise I'd be in the garage right now. And yes, therapy is good. My wife was baking last weekend, something she loves to do. So we're getting back to doing what we do. But the thought of sorting and packing up this house………
  5. Me & the Mrs. have been talking about moving. With moving comes the love/hate of searching for what you want and what you need. I'll concede the 2 car garage down to a 1 1/2, but I need a bigger hobby area. With light and ventilation and windows. Post these pictures and give me another item to add to our wish-list: bigger hobby room. I look at peoples work areas and try and find something useful. I've gotten a million ideas from some of the posts. Good job re-organizing! As an aside, Queens is officially full. Long Island here we come. It's gotten too BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH congested and too much dumb is moving in. It was nice while it lasted……
  6. First week we both worked a full week since February! Amy is doing OK, we're both still surprised how quickly she deteriorated….. And yes, she's fortunate she didn't suffer and erode away further. It was just awkward, not heartbreaking yet……. we have a memorial service planned so out-of-state family can come in. Now we adjust. Meanwhile way back in January I had dis-assembled some of the car in the hope of doing some up-grades. As life prevented me from doing everything in a laid-back manner, now I'm picking & choosing what I want/must get done, and what could wait so I can get it back on the road. Over the past week I finished a quick spit-n-polish on the grilles. It felt good to spray some paint and makes stuff nice. Tomorrow I throw in 5 Gal. of VPVintage and fire her up from the l-o-n-g sleep. Drop her off the stands, tend to the couple of items I must do, and give her a sponge bath. Looking forward to pulling a few gears….
  7. Today is the first day we're actually "back to normal" as far as our usual routine is concerned. Amy is doing well, but it's just been nuts. First she lost her Father in March, now her Mom. Oh, BTW: Her Brother was hospitalized last month and HE has health issues too! Wow…. time out.
  8. Wow, just yesterday I posted stating my Mother-in-Law's health issues have been our priority. Last night she passed away in her sleep….. Happened so fast.
  9. ….my Wife's Mom has been in & out of the hospital and re-hab centers. Onset of Alzheimer's and the ensuing health deterioration. In-home nurse 7 days a week with us over there as much as possible. Barracuda is still in winter storage and I walk past the hobby room….. It'll get better. And BTW: Call your parents and/or grandparents if you haven't recently. Let them know your there and see how THEY are.
  10. I had a Chrysler dealership near my house growing up. One of the mechanics had a big block Belvedere wagon that was awesome. Turbine bronze, black bench seat with a stick, 440, headers, etc….. I love obscure combos too.
  11. I find it hard to believe the manufacturers have such a caviler attitude towards accuracy at times. I've been tempted to build either the Beetle or Ghia several times. Interesting to watch a build happen. Good job, keep it up!
  12. My shop does collision estimates too we did the write up, no inspector came to write it. From what I hear, Hagerty is an absolute pleasure to work with.
  13. Thanks. We restored the `64 a few years ago before I joined. The Continental is waiting on the custom driveshaft to make her a runner. The `54 GMC is the owners personal vehicle we just recently finished. I threw this together for a quick holiday gift last December…..
  14. Yeah, I'll throw that obligatory "me too" post on expecting the AAR variant. That `Cuda kit is nice. My bet would be a AAR w/ maybe a 440-6 option w/ the Shaker. THEN they'll slice off the roof and start all-over….. `except naturally for the AAR.
  15. I stand corrected on the 5 window, thank you! It may take a year or two, but I'll say it again: patience….. _________ I didn't even think about the Rat Roaster only because it was still the roadster basically. Granted a new variation, so that makes five different issues off of the bones of that initial 3-window kit. Not bad choices any of them. I still say more (and better….) is yet to come.
  16. In the final issue of Plastic Fanatic Gregg graciously devoted a full page feature on my right-hand drive, Jaguar powered T bucket. And as you envisioned, I used that beautiful Tamiya mill. I'm a big fan of non-traditional street rod power plants. Here's a long-ram 413 in a 32 Vicky. Heck, if I can IMAGINE it, I'll try and do it…… Howzabout a V-6 early Hemi? This is stuffed in a Heller BMW Dixie street rod. I too would love to see alternate drivetrains too. Not necessarily phantom engines like the V-6 Hemi, but some fine suggestions have already been made. I'd wait for the NEXT variation to be re-leased, along with a friendly word of thanks for what's been released and suggestions on future releases.
  17. Hi guys, long time no-post. I see Revell is planning on the next variation of the `29 Roadster. I think a `30/`31 Coupe is a great idea, redundant engine and all. But remember: I may be wrong, but didn't we get basically FOUR variations on the `32 kit? We got the 3 Window, Dan Fink's Speedwagen, the Roadster, and the Tudor (was a 5 Window done?) Maybe they'll do a Roadster variation next? Pick-up? Maybe THEN we'll see the Red Ram or Olds? Patience gang…..patience. Things are good for us. Remember when all we got was the same miserable Camaro and Trans Am re-issues?
  18. Spotted this in front of a pharmacy out here on Long Island. 1983 Toyota brought in from Australia. On a scale of 1-10 on the cool-meter, this thing was a 14…...
  19. This came rolling in on a flatbed. We saw there was a fire in the car. Push it in the shop and take a look. We didn't expect to see what we did…... Obviously I noticed the stereo in the glove box. But I didn't catch the vintage LoKar street rod shifter under the coating of extinguisher powder….. Norstar V-8 swap. With some very poorly done wiring. Waiting on Hagerty to write it up…...
  20. I had posted pictures of this when it first arrived. Fully restored 1965 Lincoln getting the treatment and it's almost done. LS3-4 speed automatic-Vintage Air-Air Ride-BAER 4 wheel discs-Custom dash w/ vintage-style gauges, DVD/CD/Sat/MP3/Back-Up camera-Billet IDIDIT steering column-Steelies w/whitewalls We also got this in for some mechanical repairs. Genuine `64 Impala 409-4 speed-Convertible. Go ahead, drool….. it drives as good as it looks!
  21. Reminds me of Dr. Cranky's drag car, but different enough to make it unique. Love the idea! More!
  22. Me & Amy were shocked to hear the news yesterday morning…… Tragic. They had set up a make-shift "Sympathy Card" from the table cover for their reserved table. Pens were provided and the public was encouraged to write a short salutation to the family. The table covering was to be sent to the Holthaus family from the attendees of NNL East `15. Nice touch Tri-State guys.
  23. Yeah, there was some really creative builds there. The Gasser class was over-run with Malco Mustangs and Willys, but there were a few clever builds, like 6 cylinder powered `33 Willy's and Hudsons….. I was a bit dis-appointed I couldn't find what I was (specifically ) looking for in the vendor area, but it's always a great day out. Happy to share the pictures.
  24. Not to hi-jack, but please allow me to add some i dividual parts-tree pictures from the `29.
