  1. This is looking good Bob. I like the stock engine also. I airbrushed Testors enamels back a long time ago, never got good results, but I was inexperienced and was using one of those Testors 10 dollar AB. I should give it another try.
  2. Rear end is ready for those big meats. I was hoping to get the body painted today, but the weather is not cooperating, rainy and humid. Will not get much done the rest of the week, got a colonoscopy scheduled for Thursday and the prep starts tomorrow. ☹️
  3. Looks awesome Bob. Very nice work.
  4. Thanks. The custom engine in this kit is lacking. The distributor and coil are molded in with the heads and intake, all one piece. And they don't even look much like a coil and distributor. I cut the distributor off so I can put in the pre-wired.
  5. It's looking real good Bob. I've seen these kits at HL, may have to pick up one next 40% week. Looks like a fun build.
  6. Not sure what headers to use. The set out of the 25 T bucket model will work but this is supposed to be a street rod. May use them anyway. The instructions shows no fan on the custom engine, but there is a fan in the kit so I assume it can be used. I will be using a pre-wired distributor, but I don't have it yet.
  7. Thanks. I'm skipping the fenders, too much modification for me. This is the first time that I'm trying to deviate a little from a out of box build. Also doing a little kit bashing for the first time.
  8. Thanks Bob. I don't have a blower setup. I'm going with the custom engine in the kit except I'm dechroming the block and intake/heads, etc. It has the triple carb setup with a full air cleaner that covers all three carbs. But I'm going to use the separate air cleaners from the 29 kit instead. I'll have some photos soon.
  9. Cut some spacers from 5/32 inch styrene tubing to extend the axle housing so the big meats would not rub the bed. Stance looks a little too wide, may need to make them a little shorter. Being the axle would be too short now, I cut it in half with one half for each side. I don't care for the tires to roll anyway so I will glue them in place.
  10. Yeah, going with the fenders and having to tub it would be too much modification for me. I'm going to build it without the fenders. That way all I would need to do is add some spacers to get the big meats away from the bed.
  11. Looking good Bob. I like the black headers.
  12. Yeah, I'm going back to my original idea. No fenders. I think I about got it figured out. Starting priming some body parts today. Going to paint it with Createx Pearl Blue.
  13. No more updates on this one. Trying to get the body on the frame and dropped it. I don't want to take time putting it back together right now, I put back in the box.
  14. I think you are right Bob. I'm going to go with my original idea and build it without the fenders if possible. I will know more once I get the engine assembled and test fit it in the frame to see where it all lines up. I hope to finish the modified stocker today so I can put more time into figuring this one out.
  15. I don't know of any fender units that would work, but I'm new at this, so someone may have some suggestions. I thought about chopping mine, but that's a little too much for me right now. If I can just get these big tires to work on the rear I'll be good.
  16. How would it look with the big meats sticking out beyond the fenders. I think I've got the axles figured out and I cut some spacers to bring the tires further out. I can also raise the rear end slightly for the big tires to clear the top of the fenders. I was first thinking of going without the fenders, but really don't like that look.
  17. Thanks, had not thought of that. I probably have some since I do a little wood working now and then.
  18. Looking good Bob. I was in HL the other day and actually picked up this kit looking at it, then put it back and bought the AMT 55 Chevy Bel Air Sedan. Probably will get it next time. After getting the 55 I got to thinking about all that trim work on it and have about decided to not even fool with it. May take it back for exchange.
  19. I'm still trying to decide if this is the way I'm going with it. Got some styrene rod to see if I can make some spacers that will push the big meats out a little, then try some toothpicks for axles. Meanwhile I'm working on the Ford modified stocker. Hope to finish it in a couple of days and get started on this hot rod.
  20. Thanks. I don't have a lot of spare parts yet, only been back in the hobby a few months. But I'm working on it, buying kits at Hobby Lobby when they have the 40% off weeks.
