  1. Brilliant work, Oleg. All you need now is 'Haystack' Joey's new hairpiece sitting on the interior floor.๐Ÿ˜‰ I like that Penske set up their hood sponsor graphics so that they didn't cross over the hood vents. Total pain in the unmentionables trying to lay decals over those vents.
  2. Wonder if we'll see a similar colour scheme when the DoT sequel comes out. Could be a real bonanza for Salvinos JR and Powerslide.
  3. Love the look of this build. Well thought out and executed. Easy on the eye. Hope you find an option for pinstripes to add later.
  4. Tight and tidy.
  5. Same in Canada. But no one ever complains about the price of quality. (cue snarky rivet counter remarks)
  6. Nice build. Could be the champeen's car this year.
  7. Would Lorenzen have been running with a 427 in '64? Edit: Yes he would have. So, no Starliner motor for that project.
  8. Interesting idea. I have both the '60 Starliner and the AMT '64 Galaxie kits and was looking to do Fred Lorenzen's '64 car. The AMT kit is pretty crappy and light on chassis and engine detail. Would the motor from the '60 Starliner still be a valid component in a '64 car?
  9. Nice work. Looks great. Hope you got a good exchange rate on the Canadian dollar. I get paid by American clients in US dollars and they are worth 30% more in the exchange rate.
  10. Thank you, Wick, for posted those scanned pages of the '60 Pontiac build. Very informative.
  11. Thanks Wick. That would be awesome reference material. And a staggered cut was what I was thinking, but it's a tricky bit of business. Maybe open a separate thread for this Pontiac, although one thread on the wonders Smokey worked would be just fine, too.
  12. Great looking build. Just curious about the mufflers. Were they used for track racing back then?
  13. Hello James Humble, I have the nicely detailed Trumpeter '60 Bonneville kit that I'm looking to reduce to Smokey's Catalina dimensions. As well as adding the more accurate '59 Chev roof. Any suggestions on where cuts to the body behind the rear window should be made to achieve the scale 2-inch reduction in length? If not, no worries. If I only get the roofline corrected I'll be happy.
  14. Really nice job with this car and the body mods.
  15. Klaatu barada nikto.
  16. The Facebook site is decent. Plenty of activity and information shared there. Day to day traffic on the Randy Ayers site was dwindling away, especially on the historical threads which initially drew me, and many others, to that site. Now? I have what I need, from multiple sources as well as this one, for the historic builds I want to create and it can slide off into the ocean. I've enjoyed the Randy Ayers site for many years and used it for info on car details. Some years back, after other sources of info slipped away, I began relying on my own abilities to research and discover useful information to build more accurate cars. Not that hard to find. But that site pulled together so many well-informed people that it will be hard, if not impossible, to replace.
  17. Good info. Thanks for sharing.
  18. Sources?
  19. Yeah, those are horseplop quality. Had one of these sheets and wouldn't put it in the bottom of a birdcage for fear of being charged with cruelty to an animal.
  20. There was a sheet of decals done for this car by an unknown maker, but it only covers the '61 Daytona car and the '62 car. Jarrett's team soon changed the fonts of the door numbers as well as the sponsor markings and body trim lines after the '61 Daytona 500 and those changes more fairly reflect the car that produced his greatest successes in winning his first drivers title.
  21. Good choice on the tires. Not the everyday go-to brand seen at most racetracks back in the day, but my favorite driver growing up - Norm Lelliott at Toronto's old Pinecrest Speedway - used M&H tires to carry him to a track championship in 1970. Although this photo is from the year before, you can see the Racemaster branding on the tires.
  22. Flamin' Nora. That's the bee's nuts. Well done.
  23. That body colour is really nice. The car was listed as being painted in Hudson's Southern Blue - which MCW has faithfully reproduced. But you've done well with your custom mix.
  24. In the wrong thread. This is the thread for NASCAR builds. Mind you, it looks good so far.
