  1. I bought some PE carb linkage aand gave up on them. Too small. I've been using the covers from telephone wire (red, green, yellow, black)as spark plug boots on the engine side - distributor side just gets glued. A months ago I started using the same telephone wire as receptacles for fuel lines. It looks better to me. The biggest problem I have is the limited number of colors. I have this thing about ignition wires being in the same color family as the body color. I haven't ordered Donn's 2nd DVD yet but didn't he cover engine detailing in a detailing DVD?
  2. Thanks for info people - especially the pics. Seat belts are the next obstacle I want to overcome.
  3. Looking good for your first time. Had to be a pain cutting the mask.
  4. I have some PE seat belt buckles and seat belt material but don't know how they go together. ANybody have any detailed pics or done a how to?

I think I have that kit in my stockpile just waiting to be built. Yours looks fantastic!!
  6. Here's the reply from Evergreen. Hi Crazy Jim, Thanks for using Evergreen styrene products. I really like Ambroid. Bonding time is about the same as tenax. I think they're both methylene chloride based. In fact, if you can get your hands on on some straight methylene chloride, you'll appreciate it because it doesn't have much of an odor. I've never used IPS weld-on, so I can't really make a statement about it. MEK works good in a pinch, but it's a little slower, and doesn't evaporate as quickly (and it's odor is just too overpowering for me) Best regards, Mike Evergreen Scale Models, Inc. 7. I like all of them but that sedan delivery is really cool.
  8. That's reaally different, but I like it. I don't get the H1N1 plate though. What am I missing?
  9. Been using IE 8 and comfy skin and haven't experienced problems. I haven't tried to post any pics yet - maybe when I complete the interior on a '33 Willys kit.
  10. Isn't that a 1965 Dodge Dart? I want a '64 kit to build. I love the body style! Looks cold up there. Please try to make sure that it stays up there. We had 29 degrees yesterday morning and today is only a high of 67 degrees. This is NOT why I moved to Florida!
  11. If you look at the other post about IPS Weld-On, you'll see that I've sent an email to Evergreen Plastics requesting an adhesive recommendation (IPS Weld-On #3, #4, #4807, Ambroid or other).
  12. I have about 1 1/2 bottles of Tenax 7R left so I ordered a bottle of Ambroid and the applicator kit. I have also sent an email to Evergreen Plastics asking them if they can recommend an adhesive - Ambroid, IPS Weld-On #3, #4, or #4807. Or maybe something completely different. I'll post rersults if/when I get them.
  13. Looking pretty good so far.
  14. I have so much stuff now that it's getting ridiculous. I'm not buying a dehydrator!!
  15. This is getting confusing to me. Even more confusing is going to the IPS Weld-On website. IPS lists their #3 & #4 cements to be used on acrylics, while their #4807 cement is for styrene. The typical model car kit is styrene - right? So why would #3 or #4 be used?
  16. Donn Yost's DVD is superb! I've watched it a few times already. Donn uses Testor's bottled enamel (Model Master)and I want to get away from the enamels and into the more "exotic" paints that HOK offers.
  17. That's amazing!
  18. Howdy Greg, Please keep on posting with your progress. I've had an airbrush for years but haven't used it. Bought a 3gallon air compressor and hooked it up. Built a spray booth in my shop. My wife bought me kandy color kit from TCP Global for Christmas. I'm ready to go but a little leary of jumping into the airbrush world. I also have a package of white plastic spoons.
  19. Super paint!
  20. I see little symbols to the left of every post. There's one that looks like a spade (as in a deck of cards), another looks like a flame, and another looks like an arrow pointing to the right. What is their significance?
  21. And if I remember correctly from previous posts, I want to stay away from MEK. I think I'll start looking for Ambroid. Thanks.
  22. I've been searching for a supply of Tenax 7R and most places are out of stock and don't know when they'll get any - if ever. A google search came up with something called IPC Weld On #3 (fast) or #4 (slower) and I was wondering if anybody out there has ever used it. It's about $13.00 for a pint from Tap Plastics. There's also something called Same Stuff from MicroMark that's supposed to be a direct replacement for Tenax.
  23. I found a few places online that had Tenax 7R on hand. Most of the places don't have it. The Tenax website is for sale but had an email address. I emialed that yesterday asking to settle a rumor and haven't heard back. I'm going to call my LHS later today to see if they have aany Tenax and maybe offer to buy all their supply.
  24. I like that. Real smooth. Most excellent paint.
  25. Paint is outstanding. Keep going - I want to see that puppy completed.
