I guess "interpretation" is a good word for this. While yes, the screen is a separate piece, the appendage on the dash that it attaches to has to be dealt with if the screen is not used. There's no alternative in the Revell kit (i.e. radio face and speaker grille). The video posted has a good view of the two between-the-seats consoles included in the kit. One "open" (showing the Bond switches) and one closed. John

It isn't. For a stock build it needs to be cut off the dash and the hole filled. I paid $33.99 plus shipping from Burbank's House of Hobbies on Jan. 9th. Two are listed on their site today: with and without paints (and double-ended brush). When I ordered, only the one with the paints was listed (it's priced much higher now). But the one without paints is priced in line with Model Roundup. I'm building mine without bumpers. It isn't #1 on my to-do list but I've glued on the front pan, ejector seat lid and I sliced the top part off the bullet proof shield to fill the hole. I also filled the hole in the "boot" lid for the revolving license plate with a piece of Evergreen (I want to use a US plate). There's more stock alternate (non-Bond) parts than I expected: center console, wheel knock-offs, front parking lights, etc. There's a waterslide decal sheet that mimics the self stick one. I've ordered the USCP front grille and wheels and tires. I like this kit. I'm glad I bought one. John

I remember Don Holthaus telling me that casting up-tops was difficult. Years later, they did appear in their catalog.

I had an order pending when he closed. The PayPal dispute deadline came and went. While on a call with Bank of America several months later about another matter, I mentioned this situation. They listened and gave me a full refund immediately. Maybe this will help someone else. John

Shawn Carpenter cast this 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Beauville. This was cast in 2006 or 2007. Once in a great while one will show up on eBay - at prices that don't nearly reflect the quality of Shawn's castings in general. His masters and castings were among the very best. Clean build! If the wheels aren't glued yet, I'd like to make a suggestion: Here's my '62 built from a Promolite (Tom Coolidge) resin kit. In order to get rid of the typical JoHan too-narrow wheel track, I used brass tube for the axles (.047" I think) cut at lengths that brought the wheels and tires out - closer to the body. So that the wheels/tires/axles wouldn't flop back and forth on the narrow chassis, I made four spacers from Evergreen styrene tube that had an ID to allow them to slip over the brass tubes. Painted black, one spacer was slipped onto the tubes/axles before the wheels were attached. John

I don't have an answer for you but I didn't want to see your post not responded to. I have 171 saved e-mails from Tom from between November 2007 to May 2013. After which my messages to him were no longer responded to. I believe a work-related injury was becoming more and more problematic for him. This from his last e-mail to me I think is prescient in light of the current 3D printing craze: "If I have a claim to fame it's that my stuff mostly doesn't need donors and it has plated parts. I sell two '50 Olds "body only" variants that require a donor, but the donor provides the chrome. Anything I make where there is no donor, I provide the chrome." John

Yes he is. I phoned him on Monday and was e-mailed this info that night (as an MS Word document). He was friendly and easy to talk to. We spoke about plating plastic and resin. He wants resin parts mounted separately because he overcoats them (he’s had too many problems with resin parts being porous). He spoke about the varied quality of 3D printed parts. It sounded like he didn’t want to deal with them (not something I’m into anyway). He also sent a price list/order form. Because prices can change I’m not posting that here. Hope this helps! No trick. The images that the search engine you're using is finding are in the Spotlight forum "Archive". There isn't a clear way of finding a specific image once it's posted and archived. Their forum is in an elderly format that the new owners I'm sure want to - and will at some point - change. John
