Having finished my custom '48 Ford, I thought I would join you guys again on this CBP. I previously showed this kit when I ordered it from Hobby Search, now is the time to build it. It's the Fujimi BWW Z4 GT3 and as of now it looks like this There are at least half a dozen decals so far, only these few left to apply..... Unfortunately there are no English instructions for the decals so I'm going slowly and carefully , the decal sheet is about A4 size !!

Great build Mitch, nicely detailed. As for license plates, I simply cut them from the decal sheet, backing paper and all, and apply them to the model with white glue -
Well done Jonathan, it turned out great

very classy, I like this one a lot. Well done

This build combines optional custom parts from the recently issued coupe with the older pro-modeller convertible. The fadeaway fenders, custom Olds grill and surround were added to the convertible body, along with the rear fender skirts. The body received a chopped windshield and Carson top which are options in the pro-modeller kit. Paint is Tamiya rattlecan, Sky Blue Anodised Aluminium from the PS range, sprayed over a gloss black base. Interior/hoood are Pearl White, wheels/tyres are from the coupe kit.

You'll enjoy the build, it's a great kit - here's mine from a while back, painted, you guessed it, Tamiya Dark Blue Metallic from the can
-
Thanks Jonathan. The paint is my usual Tamiya straight from the can, it's Anodised Blue from the "PS" range sprayed over a gloss black base. Still haven't summoned the courage to use my airbrush

Just posted mine in the WIP section

I know I already have a thread in this section but I am having paint issues with my 1939/40 sedan so have moved on to this. I combined the fadeaway fenders from the recently issued 1948 coupe with the convertible kit from a few years ago and modified the front to accept one of the custom grills. This is the result so far. I'm not totally satisfied with the bodywork/paint but I'm on a learning curve here. Looks better in the photos The coupe chassis/suspesion is lowered at the rear and the engine with speed equipment is from the convertible. Not the usual powerplant for a custom so this may be changed for a regular flathead. Views/comments welcome.

Hi Jonathan I was going to suggest the Mercedes but my BMW Z4 has arrived, so how about the Lambo and I'll build my Z4 GT?
-
Has to be a couple of my recent builds, a resin Jimmy Flintstone 1932 B400 body combined with a Revell '32. Took some work to massage the body/interior and I wish I could have this as a 1:1. And then my modified '31 Sedan, also on a '32 chassis.

The good news is the chassis is just about finished, bad news is some paint issues so the body still in progress, and it's raining today . The final colour will be Tamiya metallic Purple, as seen in the mist coats on the body. The wheels/tyres are from the recent Revell '36 roadster/coupe with Pegasus brake discs, driveshaft is aluminium tube and the rest is from the Monogram '37 coupe/sedan. Aluminium exhaust tips still to be added.

Thanks for sharing - some great builds there

Thanks everyone for the kind words and encouragement. I've never attempted a chop on such a bodystyle before so didn't want to get in too deep. For this reason and it being only a modest chop, I cheated a little and left the rear of the roof unchopped. I made a vertical cut just ahead of the rear window down to the horizontal cutline and simply dropped the rear roof section in place. This can be seen in the early photos. Yes you are right Bernard, it does create a slight humpback effect, but I didn't have the courage/skills to lay down the rear window. Mebbe next time eh, if this one turns out ok

Hopefully I have the bodywork finished on this. The side trim has almost disappeared over the 40-odd (?) years this mold has been in use, so I sanded off what was left and fitted new trim from Evergreen strip. The firewall has been smoothed and the holes for bumper mounts etc have been filled. Hope to get it painted one evening this week. Work on the undercarriage is also progressing, had to narrow the rear axle etc because the chassis rails were moved in. It all looks good now, hope the wheels will still fit in the arches

Lots of unwanted things happen to me and my models during construction. I'm sure the members here have lots of examples, but here are two of mine to get the ball rolling: 1) When scribing a panel line with the back of a No 11 blade, several passes are needed to make an impression. However, the first time the blade jumps out of the groove, a deeper gash is created in one single pass 2) Why is it that a small part prefers to stick to my greasy, oily fingers, rather than the piece it is being superglued to?

What's the story behind your user name/avatar?
maltsr replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I am of Maltese descent, Malta being an island in the Mediterranean, hence maltsr. My avatar is a 1/24 replica of my 1:1 car. -
Hi all This is a project that stalled more than a year ago, but inspired by Dr Cranky's recent long weekend CBP for such builds, I thought I would resurrect it. I started with the AMT 1939/40 sedan and gave it a modest (gentleman's?) chop of about 1/10th of an inch. The chassis is the much better 1937 Revell unit from the 5-window coupe. The wheelbase had to be shortened and the rails narrowed at the rear to accommodate the wide rubber. A few panels were added to fill the gaps between chassis and fender unit. Hopefully it won't be another year before I post an update

Looking good, Jonathan I have this on the way from Japan, hope it arrives soon
