  1. So if he's not telling you whether he's selling them or not, does he just want the world to know he has 27-thousand Hot Wheels?
  2. Because there are still a few rare and highly collectible, pristine muscle cars out there that haven't been smashed to bits yet.
  3. No so fast. Glue getting old, yes. Liquid cement, yes. But I find liquid cement much too watery for my preference so I glob the old tube glue into it and mix. You can get a really nice viscous liquid cement that's thick enough to avoid running all over but still thin enough to wick into delicate areas.
  4. They're SO bad that I wonder if it really is just shoddy proportioning. On some of them, do you think it's possible they were circumventing licensing issues by altering the look of the car by the legal percentage enough to claim it's not intended to be a replica of a real vehicle? I mean, Mark, look at that Ford Chevette, or Chevy Pinto or whatever the blazes that is. My first model car as a tyke was a 1/32 Palmer Mustang convertible. OUCH!
  5. I post photos because I delight in showing off my labors. I do so knowing there are far better modelers than me and if they are inclined they may make honest, possibly impulsive comments. Pleasant comments are nice but I'm not motivated by them. Critical comments are just expressions and are probably pointing out flaws I'm already aware of. No comments at all are not to be considered a comment. Not everybody has the same social skills or even verbal skills. While I quite enjoy the dialogue, I also don't seek self affirmation from feedback. I just like a place besides a dusty shelf to present my interests and it is what it is.
  6. This has crossed my mind in the past too but I never gave it much consideration. Early to mid 80's my personal experience was the standard, over the counter, parts store plug wires were black, grey, blue, and yellow. Even that only effects my build to the degree of what I feel like putting in there. Seems it would only matter when trying to be historically accurate to a vintage. Otherwise, custom is custom. Make the model you want to build and tell the rest to go get you a soda.
  7. Well, fire it UP! Let's hear it run!
  8. Company branding and preserving product integrity really is a big deal to any business big or small. How much or little the infringement hurts is of little consequence. It's been my experience that they don't want to be the bad guys either so they usually politely but professionally ask you to refrain from stealing their branding or product rights, then shake hands and say thanks. If they discover their request has been disrespected you get whacked. To me it's common courtesy. A little stealing is not alright.
  9. Been driving this for 9 years. Half of that time I felt groovy because of that slightly nose down stance, only to find out both front suspension coils were busted in two and three pieces. It didn't collapse altogether because the broken parts were wedged against the upper arms. Naturally Ford's replacement coils put the nose high and dorky. The service shop refused to shorten them for me. And would you believe I've been stopped twice and ticketed once for window tinting, with only that much tint.
  10. Not a sexy color but it's factory accurate to the family wagon we had when I was a kid. Resin.
  11. Love the subtle nod to the VN vet.
  12. OOhhhhh you scurvy dog! Do you know how long I've been staring at my Cherry Bomb trying to figure out how to make a modern concept car from it?! Well... um... a long time! You did it. That's it. It's awesome. I'm going home.
  13. Well done young Jedi. Thusly you begin your journey into a dark and perilous place.
  14. I'm sure it's still good... maybe for leveling the washing machine.
  15. Fantastic. Thanks so much for posting this. I'm at the cusp of deciding whether I want to do this subject for a CBP and you gave it a lot of the treatment I was considering. A preview, if you will. Nice job and important info for me. thanks.
  16. I had a thought today of somebody doing something wild with the AMTronic kit to the tune of The Who's "Magic Bus." Not me though. But it would be fun one to watch come together.
  17. Awesome build. Love the progress shots. I also love the wide whites. Not a fan of the baby wheels but that's because I'm out of the demographic for those.
  18. I'd barely read any of this thread before I got so excited to see if I wanted to contribute. I looked up car songs and found "Vehicle" which has been one of my favorites my whole life. Now a local 12-piece band with 6 horns does that song and if you want an out of body experience, hear it live! Sadly, now I see there's been so much traffic about that song on this thread that I'm not gonna do it. That's okay, there's lots of ideas.
  19. All those photos remind me of eating at Charley-Joe's Cafe. Talk about compression and exhaust!
  20. SCOPE! The surgery of champions! Scar up with the best and have swift recovery.
  21. I always thought it was cause and effect. A-effects-B. Sniffing paint effects brain. Affect was to be touched emotionally, e.g. Seasonal Affective Disorder. Could you be so close to your modeling that it has affected you deeply? I suppose if I huffed enough Testers to be euphoric then I may be affected. When I die some poor slob will have to pool through my affects to determine what's to be done with a ton of modeling ######.
  22. Hmmmmm. Maybe I DO like '59 Imperials.
  23. Anhauser-Busch Announces New Offering: Polar and Polar Lights.
  24. Now to the headlines... 1) IPMS Announces New Category: Amberbock’s Stock 2) Tomy to Buy RC2... Modelers: “Oh My Guinness!†4) AMT, MPC & MGD... OMG! 3) NASCAR kits to feature beer sponsors: Heine-can-you-believe it? 5) Tomy to Hobbyists: We Will MakeThem Better, Stronger, Foster’s. 6) They Killed RC2. Arrogant Bastard!
