Yes mostly but i did the seat with masking tape and added a rib/molding to the center of the back part of the body I intended to use BMF on the added trim but liked the look as painted. Too much chrome on the whole car any way or so i think. that's my story and i'm stuck with it.

This is a real nice kit and a fair build ruined by A bad photographer. when i get some time and extra funds i will buy and build the Offy one and the v8 again. i at first only built this one to place on the Cord COE i am working on. but this is a fine kit in it's own right. i apologize for the poor photos and my not contest quality work i redid the paint on this 3 times and it looks much better in real life really it does the paint is darker and deeper than what shows in the photo's and there is some late minuet bleed thru in the photo's but on the truck bed i can not see it. . Thank You For Looking get one of the kits and do way better than me please..

INSPIRED THINKING- Cheap Tips for Frugal Modelers
spad007 replied to 62rebel's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
yes and I use a small very fine mill file instead of sanding paper unless i want a dirt look but a bit of chalk dust sanded from colored chalk stick and brushed on the tire tread will do as much weathering as you need white chalk for white gravel is a bit bright till i rub it in with my finger the oil in the tire darkens it fast. -
Another reason why I dislike ebay

E bay is ok if you know how to work it number one Check the Feed backs 2 don't buy from folk that have bad feedback ratios 5000 good and one bad might not be a bad seller read the feed back and decide. 100 with3 or4 is probably not a good seller. 12 with good feed back like i have can be good or bad is just a newbie or not very active read what few they have and then decide. if you get bad service leave bad or no feed back. as a warning to the rest of us. yesterday i listed a model "T" head it sold in the first ten min for my Buy it now price. and i don't mind paying E bay for that kind of service. my shipping cost was much higher than i expected but i shipped any way a lesson learned . treat folk like you want to be treated and Frack the rest. -
Purple Power - How long should it soak?
spad007 replied to seeker589's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
some paints i had to use Ronsonol or Zippo lighter fluid and a brush or rough rag. then back in the pond then if it dyed the plastic or stained it i wipe it down again with lighter fluid i do not leave the fluid on or let it pool on the plastic so no problems yet then wash the oily residue from the plastic i use simple green and thence liquid soap like dawn dish soap. pat dry with paper towel then use tack rag to prep for repaint or store in clean box then tack rag it clean when ready to paint. i wonder if prep sol would work nah to hot i bet. blow compressed air like you are painting and tack rag again to get dust the air moved from hidden places. then Paint -
What Type of Modeler are you??
spad007 replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
1not Stock at all have to change something on any model that falls into my hands.Kurtis Midget close to stock. 2muti media yep what ever works. 3my COE is half scratch built and half kit bash I can scratch build a whole model just not right now (i have stream liner in the works) rim's and tires don't count. imo drawing it on paper first then building from scratch. that's the way i have done in the past. 4kit bashing Yeppers buddy . Just throw kits in box and shake and bake see what comes out. 5 custom builder to my own wants. -
You don't want to do this . . .

What happened to the lettering on tires?
spad007 replied to Rob McKee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
IMHO it is still product placement and any brand or logo or font can be protected by a 1 dollar fee. if i remember American Airlines was one of the first to crack down on kit makers i would never fly on their greedy airline. so it's a mater of greedy lawyers and company's one forgets that attracting young folk to this hobby might include the logo on a tyre in the box art firestone is bridgestone etc and one might need a firestone for one model and a bridgestone for another."Their brands not cap-ed on purpose." NITO on all kits for a buck might make sense. Greed is at the center of this one might not buy or use products from the greedy offenders . -
1930 Bentley question
spad007 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
my guess is Circled on the left and right (Defroster vents) you can see the left one is open and pointed toward passenger lower left (Bentley/Rolls Royce, automatic lubrication windows)just below the fuel totalizer window. top center oil fill for oil tank on other side of bulkhead/firewall . Do i win something if i got it right? -
What happened to the lettering on tires?
spad007 replied to Rob McKee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
ONE of my pet peeves. ever since AA lines went after the model plane's ..It's in my mind Product placement they should pay us for using their logos or names on our models. not the other way around. -
Sand paper grit is Internationale the grit ,say 600 falls thru a 600 mesh screen 400 thru a 400 mesh screen etc i recommend open face sand paper for rough sanding you can tap out the debris and keep the paper live. like hitting a chalk board eraser . on real life cars i use open face paper and smack it face on with a paint stirring stick wooden one. for small scale i tap the paper with a small stick i made for the job. over a rag. save the wet sanding for final sanding.

Put the lid back on the paint jar before you spill it.. this will be a nice model i think when you are done . something i would want on my shelf..

nice build and a nice diorama ...Kits are meant to be built that's why their called KIT'S. so i hope you had fun building your model. keep building and have fun doing it . i think that is what this hobby is about. Thank You for sharing your model with us.

So i mocked up the midget racer body shell with tape and set it on the back of the Cord COE. The Kurtis Midget. Is mostly painted. Some touch up is needed but on the whole i kind of like the "Little Devil." ( Oh! there is a car named that already.) .Things like the Nerf bars and exhaust go on last so i don't brake them, till later. The body or track offset kind of gave me a fit fitting it. .I sure hope it looks a bit better when all glued in place. Any way it's has been a nice break from constant sanding on the Cord. You might notice some blocking under the bed of the now, "Race Car Transporter." It is a safety thing to keep any sag or rolling while i fumble finger parts on the COE. here are some shots.

"Side skirt's?" Is that the same as a "Splash Apron?" or is steam different? any how that is a fine model as are all the other models shown here. wheels rims demountable, and clinchers and tires/tyers drive me nuts. buffalo wires in 1/24 scale would be a nice thing to find. but no..

Let's roll. I would not mind at all being seen in that. I don't care what the boys at Top Gear say. looks to me a masterful job well done. Thanks for showing the Red Horse. Bella.
