  1. Hi, back to work, realized a few days ago that this threads been going on for more than 6 months! So I figure I need to get it done......... First off I got the exhaust done and all mounted up: Then I mounted the seat, built a new plastic frame that attached to the seat pan then used some rivets to connect the two, then lastly used some rbmotion shocks to attach it to the car, Here's the modified shocks: Then all mounted up: This is kinda a stupid thing to point out but it took some time: I went back and filled all the bolts that had been added so far and added more washers and stuff, an example of all that work would be the shock mounts before they where just one nut, now a bit different: Also did more on the electronics basically got all the wires in that lead up the the circuit boards, and electrical boxes, main thing was the kill which, witch almost everything needs to be connected to, The other electrical stuff was the front head light and all the switches behind that, also got part of the hand controls and brakes on...

    350Z Art Car

hi, finished this up yesterday and have been spending all day trying to get a few good photo's, hasn't worked out very well this car just hates the camera But anyways here's the best I could do....... Here's the W.I.P. if you didn't see it: http://www.modelcars...showtopic=60944 Thanks to everyone who watched the W.I.P. your comments are appreciated. Thanks for looking...
  3. thanks guys jantrix Your a genius........ Thanks for looking.....
  4. I love the slammed bugs with the roof racks, I'm trying to convince my parents to let me buy one for my first car, Not very successfully, i might add.....
  5. Thanks guys for all the comments, I've almost finished but not easily, I'm gusing it's because of my modifications but this kit is starting to suck, none of the glass fits and the body and the chassis don't fit together, even without my custom parts in place it's not working too well, If any ones built this kit and had the same problems could you possibly tell me, just a little reassurance that its not my fault............... Anyway, I've painted the body, it took a lot of thin coats (26, no clue why i counted......) then using then gunk that settles at the bottom of the cup that you wash out paint brushes in, i smeared it all over the paint, then air brushed some more light coats, unfortunately it didn't turn out that great, You can really see it but i masked out a shark face, also some numbers, sorry but today the model is photogenic..... Here's my best shot showing the paint, still isn't close to real life, but better then above.. And lastly, because i can't figure out the glass, i filled in the areas i had cut out for it with some welds, pulling the interior and the body shell together...... Well its almost done, need to add some mirrors and some mesh in the back then I'll be it will be under glass Thanks for watching everyone...
  6. Today I got my grail kit off eBay, even with the photoeched!!!!! Also finished modifying the airbrush I bought a few weeks ago..
  7. thanks for the comments guys, About the wheels they have been a constant stumbling point for me, I decided early on I would try to do one of the those funny looking Japanese tuners, but the wheels for them are really quite hard to find, I mean there's plenty out there but there all around 12in diameter, which is just way to small in my opinion, right now its running 20" and there's still a lot of empty fender, stock they where only 19", Its just my personal opinion but I think car look better when the fender is filled up more, not of course donks......they kinda suck... Anyways here's some progress, I got the final stance, I said a while back that I got rid of some of the rear camber, turns out that wasn't prototypical, In 1/1 you have to run camber other wise you have to modify the fenders which I'm not skilled enough to do... Also finished on the under body, this isn't really seen when finished but a bit of the back is so I painted and weathered it up... The exhaust may look wrong with only one pipe, but turns out oddly thats one of the ways to get better performance, apparently because only one pipe leads in to the muffler its better to only have one come out so instead of replacing the hole system with two pipes you just replace the muffler and run one exhaust pipe, kinda odd but whatever. also got the body in primer, and surprised something, the molding in line where all over the body originally from tamiya, so I sanded these all of but it seems that right next to them they had a scribed in line that needs to be filled, just a little warning to anyone building this, being lazy I'm doing nothing and just going to added more rivets but i figured i should point it out, (the sanding marks have been smoothed a bit since this pic) Work continued with the dash, I deviated from my original model, just to make it a bit essayer to build. I then I added my cartonish sized welds that most of this build has. Painted green and weathered it looks like this I also added some digital screens right now there a bit hazy, the glue is still drying......... Also got door cards done, I didn't use any on tamiya's pieces just scratch built some, there difrint on both sides to added character...... Sorry I just realized I don't have a pic for the other side, will have to update latter you also can notice that instead of steering wheels I added some WWII plane inspired things, the left side sears left to right and the the right side controls forwards or reverse.... also did the emergcy break like it was on..... I've also began painting, the top will be black and the bottom will be Olive drab, been hagin around finescale modeler and tried on of there techniques, I preshaded a lot of things we'll see how it works...hopefully everything looks really weathered. few other things, thing I got the antenna started, And added some funny looking supports to the back window. Thanks for watching everyone and your comments are appreciated... One other thing, the reason all the pictures are so dark is that I turned down the exposure a lot, It in my mind, cuts down on the glint of the plastic so you can see more details. but it makes the pictures dark. If your could chime in if you like the pictures better this way of like normal pictures. Thanks...
  8. Congratulations to all the winners, Great job! Just my 2 cents so don't kill me but in my option the resin Ace-grageguy didn't win was because it looks almost as if his model is too good, it doesn't look like you use 50% of the parts just looks like you used the body, unfortunately due to revell not letting you describe your work the judges didn't realize that you where in the right, and not breaking there main rule, when in fact you did use a lot more of the kit then it looks, just its all modified. Still the model is great looking, Any ways here was my entire, was entered in the novice class, didn't win anything but it pushed me to build another muscle car which I hadn't really experienced much before. But I'm really glade I have now. Congratulations to the winners again....
  9. HI, and thanks for the comments guys, Sorry for updating the day after the last update suppose I should of just waited a day but I got the paint for the interior, early Already have some part painted and weathered, did my best on the weathering but not nearly as good as some of your guy's stuff. Don't think I ever pointed this out: I hid some speakers in the trunk area, And some how the wood floor turned out decent, I got pretty lucky.... Also got the rims painted, The back camber wasn't as necessary as I thought, so I managed to get rid of some, looks a bit better in my opinion......... And lastly I redid the red paint up front this time with some black mixed in the paint, also went over it with a black wash just to get its glare down a bit, Thanks for looking everyone and next time I'll try for better updates..
  10. Good luck with the new project.. Just figured I'd show you this as some motivation its an pretty epic W.I.P. of one of these kit's http://www.f1m.com/f...2bcec39d62bcbb0 (you have to scroll down before the pic's start...) Hope it helps some how!
  11. Hello everyone, Thanks for the comments JollySipper and Tony T Thanks for the kind offer for the aluminum But I respectfully decline, I actually tried aluminum first to build the interior and I sort of failed.....Also I over heard you're gonna quit the form, Just my 2 cents but I would stick around, the world needs more people as nice as you... A bit of progress, I continued with the interior, first off I got the man "plate" done, also started on the seats, not sure which of the two I'll use yet..... Then I started to paint it all, I'm going for a beat down used aircraft look so first I used some duplicolor white primer, sprayed really thick, which kinda helped the flat plastic look like stamped metal. Then I brush painted some Model Masters buff-able steel in some areas, which was fallowed by some brown and rust. Then I Dr. Cranky's cool salt technique but instead of spraying everything in water i just brushed on water in select areas. The paint color is going to be that zinc chromatic green but when I opened my bottle it was all dried up........... So I moved on to the front air box, Painted it red, like the warning areas on jets, Also tried a new painting technique, You use extremely high pressure, with really thin paint, the pic doesn't show it but it came out with a pretty cool look. . Lastly I got the rest of the rivet's holes drilled out, not that's very exciting. Thanks for looking, and thanks for the comments again.
  12. Thanks for all the great comments christhobe thanks for the pic's haven't had much luck finding inspiration for this build. (I have no idea why this is bold???) Also could some of you guys post pictures of all the wheel types you're talking about, to be honest I have no idea what you're talking about.......... These where the other wheals I was considering but there way bigger Here's comparing them........ Also a tinny bit of work on the interior, I'm re building it to all look like stamped metal. still a ton more to do............ Looking at real B 17 I realized there's actually a lot of wood in the WWII planes so I used a bunch of thin strips in the trunk........... Also worked on the dash the two put together didn't look to good there was a bit of a gap and I don't have the skills to fix that making it look reasonably good so I'm rebuilding the whole thing, so far its just card stock temples but later it will all plastic, the other blank side will be the same as the one already done......... Thanks for looking and thanks again for the comments, and if anyone could I'd like to see some pictures of those rims you guys mentioned.......
  13. sorry for doing anther post but the board told me I had to many pictures so here's the end of the above post. The kit comes with two dashes both right and left hand drive: The TV tells me planes usually have two steering wheels so I combined the two. Thanks for looking and your input is welcome
  14. Well Here I go staring anther wip even thought the big bike isn't finished yet. This is the tamiya kit originally i bought this thinking i would build what I'd like for a first car, the 350z in real life is reasonably obtainable for a first car for me, but I honestly suck at shinny paint so I'm doing a kinda of euro rat look combined with the Air force. Not sure If that style exist, or if anyone will like it heck I'll probably hate it in the end but basically the car's gona be olive drab with exposed rivets and be crazy lowered ect. ect. Probably should shut up and post some pictures............. First off as I said the car is gona have a bunch of rivets, I plan to use two sizes just for more fun for the larger I've drilled out a bunch of holes, that later will get rivets, for the smaller I'm gona use the decal ones. Also all the panel lines have been rescibed and given a black wash that hopefully will still be seen once painted. Wheels where the next big task and they come from tamiya's Porsche 959 that I showed a while ago. right now there in primer but later they will probably be lime green. Then the suspension was messed entitle i got this stance. The fronts are pulled in a ton and the back stick out with some negative camber. Here's that negative camber: Also carved out the area for the license plate that later will have two big pipes sticking out like jet engines The front of the car was really boring stock: So I built this huge air box behind it, and added some details to look busy Then when installed you just could look through so I built this plate behind it to kind look like the front of a engine just a bunch of pulleys and two turbos, later I'll add some mesh, sorry this pic's kinda sucky...... The chassis plate is really nice and detailed from tamiya but I paint really thick so I re scribed some of the lines so details where more bold and got it into primer. Thanks for looking and your input is welcome

    2010 Mustang

Hello everyone and sorry for such a delayed response I was down in Georgia and Alabama for vacation(you guys are better people then me being able to stand the 110+ temps.) Thanks for all the complements, TooOld Here's some pic's with better lighting. Also I never showed the chassis pic's, I did this before i decided to weather the car so its still pretty clean, one day I'll weather it.... also the tires need some help... I don't think I mentioned in the first post but I had to raise up the engine in order to get the car this low so all the suspension would still fit, Hopefully that helps someone building the kit..... and I added another master cylinder............sorry the pic's still suck.... 08seal here's some pic's of the battle damage: nothing that special badluck13 thanks for mentioning Janis Joplin Porsche, never seen it before but after I looked it up I think I have a Porsche kit in my future. Thanks for mentioning it again. To everyone that asked about the paint, its all done with a crappy brush for a chain craft store, using cheap acyclic paint like apple. I just free hand everything, the car actually started out in grey primer, just added paint wear ever you want then add details in this case just random shapes, I'm sure everyone can do a better job then this, I only spent about 4 hours after I prepped the body. Here's a pic of some of the paint and the brush I use: Thanks again for all the comments and sorry for such a delayed response.
  16. Hello, Just a bit of progress to probe I'm not dead.... Got one of the side pods on, scratch built some brackets and pins to hold the panel up. Also added the license plate bracket And a totally scratch built front brake, this took a while Thanks for looking.
  17. Here's mine: Used to do model train stuff and the layout is now a shelf... and the photo both area: Thank god my parents are carefree.

    2010 Mustang

Hello everyone, Finished this today, it’s a 2010 drift mustang, to be honest I hate mustangs and drift racing but I’m trying to have a model of all the different types of race cars, and allegedly mustangs are good drift cars so this ended up being made. Mostly box stock, I replaced REVELL’s tires with some much smaller PEGASUS tires, I also lowered the suspension I know a lot of people in the mustang CBP are just modifying the breaks but it seems kinda cheap so I went all the way, mini tubed the rear, thinned out the front fenders, new suspension arms and the sort, The interior was painted all black, the carpets where done in texture paint, and seat belts where added , the engine is all stock with some random wires added to make it look busy and some aluminum ducking added that caries air to the interior, and a new front spoiler was added, the rear got some battle damaged, then the paint was all done like the hippie van I did a few days ago, and then it was all weathered. Sorry for talking so long, thanks for looking, and comments are appreciated.
  19. Really nice engine bay detailing, I don't know why but that battery just looks perfect.
  20. still a bit more..... Back in post #31 I showed the chrome accent for the tank, have since decided that it wasn't very cafe looking, so I cut it down and have reshaped it since. Then on top two gas/oil caps will go, yes there isn't a oil tank in the tank but it looks cool.... Also got these cool 1/6th scale boots to go with it all, weathered them a bit before this pic and added my initials to the back. When you get um' by the bike it really puts in to perspective how small this bike really is. And here's a overall shot with the new shocks. And if your curious of the size here's a look at it with a 10' mustang: Sorry if you can't tell I'm really excited by these shocks, but they work!! (sorry) Anyway thanks for looking everyone, and The comments are appreciated, and if you have any question feel free to ask...
  21. a bit more....... An oil overflow tank is a popular addition in 1:1 so I built this, The braided line appears to travel in a weird path, but it must do this to clear the air cleaner. And the tank it's self just bolts in and was accented with some Pro Tech breathers, and some detail master fittings. Then the horn was built up, I added a mount for this early on when the frame was first built but forgot about it till now..... Then comes the seat, this ended up being a bit of a project, I carved out some foam then covered it in some white fabric, then added a million rivets(at least it felt like it ) then weathered and beat it up.
  22. Thank you!! everyone, Honestly If it wasn't for your support I would of moved on to another project. Some progress, First off the dramatic story of the rear shocks,Here's a comparison pic, the shock on the left is basically stock, on the right is the best I could do to modify it, not that great. After a few email back in forth I received these epic shocks from RB motion: All assembled up they look like this: Then installed and so on. The foot controls shown before have also been completed and installed: The other side was also built, on this side some of the pieces are still Tamiya's plastic just messed with, then some other scratch built stuff was added.
  23. Thanks everone. Ya this is super fun to paint like this. I've allready started to paint a mustang like this Also I know how to spell canned heat there one of my favorit bands, I spelled it wrong to give it more character. The guy who painted it in real life wasn't "all there" if ya know what I mean
  24. Hello everyone, I built this for the VW CBP. Basically started as a factory stock die cast and got modified a bit, more details are in the CBP Thanks for looking, and comments are welcome.
  25. thanks guys, and jcbigpaw sorry i forgot to comment on your great volksrod, I'd love to have a bug like that except in a rat rod form, I've made a bit of progress. The roof is pretty boring stock: So I built a frame and then used tissue paper to added the fabric. Also decided to lower it a bit more, you can't really tell but there's a ton of negative camber in the back. The interior is next, the die cast was one plate, I cut this all apart and replaced the seats, to get more of a striped down look, then I added some supports, acting like this is a racing van. Then it all got painted primer and weathered. Thanks for looking.
