  1. Thanks, everyone.
  2. I have a really big scale one...
  3. I woke up. Always a good way to start the day. These days I'm not taking anything for granted.
  4. If they have survived all this time, obviously there's no need to "preserve" them now... they're not going anywhere. Store them (or display them) as you would any kit. No special preservation necessary, just common sense. Like you said, out of direct sunlight and temperature extremes.
  5. How did you guys know today's my BD?
  6. You can get an excellent finish using either aerosol cans or an AB. What the AB gives you that cans just don't is total control over the spray. With an AB (double action) you can control the air-to-paint ratio, something that can come in handy when doing certain types of painting. Obviously with a can you are at the mercy of the manufacturer. Some spray cans put out a fine spray, others a more coarse spray... but in any case you can't really control it. But with more control comes more variables, and more chance for error. Once you get the hang of airbrushing, you'll probably prefer it to using a can... but that's not to say that you can't get a nice finish using a spray can. And of course there's the cost and convenience aspect. A can of spray paint costs a couple of bucks, and you can't beat the convenience. A good AB setup (airbrush, hose, fittings and hardware, moisture trap, compressor) will run you hundreds of $$$... an initial investment that many modelers are unwilling to make (or just can't make). And then there's the mixing and thinning of the paint, and the cleanup after every color... another hassle many people just don't want to deal with.
  7. In 1/25 scale, the wrinkle finish on the parts in the photo would be basically invisible.
  8. If you can believe the crowd estimates, the Sox rally drew 1.75 million, the Cubs drew 5 million. But there are sources that say it's impossible that there were 5 million at the Cubs rally... but even so, the Cubs drew a lot more people than the Sox did. Don't know about arrests at the Sox rally, but there was no looting.
  9. It's personal preference. Some players still wear the traditional "to the knees" pants with stirrup socks, some wear the full-length pants with no socks showing. Sometimes it happens with players on the same team! Apparently MLB doesn't enforce its own rules, which state that every player on a team must wear the same identical uniform. By the way, several of the Cubs players will be on Saturday Night Live tonight. They haven't said who, but my guess is David Ross, Anthony Rizzo, and Kris Bryant. Just a hunch.
  10. With all the people who lined the streets for the parade and crowded into Grant Park for the rally, CPD says there were only six arrests... six... and one of those for "unlawful use of a drone"... Unlike some other cities, where they "celebrate" championships by looting stores, setting fires, and flipping over cop cars, the people here were well-behaved. Way to go, Chicago!
  11. Not a bad joke. Actually a pretty decent way to do "chrome." All the chrome on this model is Spaz Stix... The wheels on this one... Grille shell on these two... You get the idea...
  12. Mike, thanks for the kind words. I currently don't have any plans as far as what's next, but at some point I would like to resurrect my 1/8 Pocher Rolls Royce woody. It was about half done when I put it aside due to lack of interest... that was many months ago. Maybe time to dig that one out again and "git 'er done." It's too far into the process to just give up on it.
  13. Aside from custom paint and a slight lowering, this one looks to be 100% stock.
  14. Looks to me like you don't need a whole lot of constructive criticism. Beautifully done.
  15. Official Chicago PD crowd estimate for today's Cubs rally downtown: FIVE MILLION people. That's a lotta Cubs fans! I had the best seat in the house... I watched it all on TV!
  16. There are a lot of BoS models listed as resin... http://www.modelcarworld.de/uk/shopsearch.php?f=*HERSTELLER&c=BoS-Models&f1=MASSSTAB&c1=18&f2=STOCK&c2=>0&t=shopsearch3&language=uk&bcount=&start=21&dif=20
  17. I'm watching the live coverage on TV. Unbelievable crowds. It looks like everyone in Chicago is out celebrating!
  18. Very nice!
  19. It works great. I use it all the time. Photobucket is down for maintenance, but when it's back up I will post several examples of what Spaz Stix looks like on a model.
  20. You think this is a bad looking car? Seriously?
  21. Now the Sox, the Bulls, the Hawks, the Bears, and finally the Cubs have all won championships in my lifetime. It's about freakin' time, Cubs!
  22. Wow! The level of detail is very impressive for such a small scale. Even the vent window is open!
  23. Exactly what Bill said. The Bondo comes in a very modeler-friendly size tube and works great.
