  1. Thanks guys for the compliments! The latest issue of the general lee is the same old tooling as the original, but they fixed the rear window to the tunnel back (proper style) not the 500 style back window that was wrong with this kit for so long!
  2. I'm on to another build and this is a car i love (thats where i got my username from) I've owned 10+ of these cars over the past 7yrs, and i fully restored an 89 Shelby (the blue/charcoal t-top) I've owned a red 87 Shelby Z and a blue 88 Shelby Z, so i'm not to sure which one I'm gonna build it after. I wish they made the 89 to 91 style daytona!!!! that's my favourite body style. Anyways here is the kit i picked up... right off the bat it has the wrong rims for the Shelby Z.. it should have "crab rims" and the kit comes with "eggshell" rims, which were on the Daytona pacifica. My 87 and 89 which i sadly sold.. I'd like to find rims similar to these in 1/25th scale. I don't have any pics of the blue 88, but this is the colour it was. This was my 89 i restored and sadly got rid of too. I plan on scratch building the motor to turbo 2 specs (inter cooled) this kit should have already been like this, but i realize it's an 80's reissue so i'll work with what i got! I'm thinking of going with the flash red colour since i still have some of that paint left from doing the 89... I hope the tamiya primer is compatible with dupont chroma-premier base coat... i know if you spray the base directly to the styrene it will craze and destroy the body.. i'll have to do some experimenting!
  3. Thanks guys for the compliments! Be sure to paint the backside of the body white on this kit, since its almost see thru. And you can wetsand and polish (remove all mold lines and flashing) without effecting the glow in the dark styrene.
  4. Thanks! Yeah the orange glow is awesome, i think it's definitely worth picking up. Being such a simple kit, it goes together fast! Ive got daisy dukes roadrunner and roscoes cop car to build as well.. i want to get an orange general lee to complete the collection.. maybe daisys jeep and cooters tow truck down the road. (if i can ever find one!) Here's a link to the buildup, http://www.modelcars...=54576&st=0
  5. Thanks guys for all the compliments! i got it done and posted it under glass http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55283
  6. I just finished this build, and it's a pretty cool kit! The glow in the dark styrene is really neat and glows bright orange in the dark. I couldn't get a good pic of it glowing, but i got one in low light and you can kinda see the glow.
  7. Almost have it complete... i just need to add the bull bar and paint orange under the hood.
  8. When its completely dark this thing glows really bright if you charge it!! it's awesome!
  9. small update... i wet sanded the body and polished it (removed all hold lines) and painted inside the body white. I also painted the headliner brown. painting the backside white gives the body a nicer look, not so transparent, and it seems to glow even better! I also scribed all the panel lines, but you still couldn't really see the lines against the base styrene (the whole car looked like one piece) so i gave them a little blackwash to break it up a bit. I'm happy with how it turned out. As you can see i have to paint the backside of the chassis white... that's how transparent this glow in the dark styrene is!
  10. I got the chassis painted hemi orange and primer. i'll start detailing it tonight and hopefully have it finished, then on to the rearend/exhaust/driveshaft piece.. it sucks it all one piece on this model!
  11. Thanks guys for all the comments! I got the motor finished up today. I'm gonna start on the chassis and body next.
  12. Looks awesome! Nice details, will look great next to the Plymouth!
  13. Looks great! Defiantly fits the 70's theme! You should put a red led light in there too!
  14. I remember one of my Dads paint chips from house of colour, and there was an orange glow paint.. i'm not sure if they make it anymore! Thanks, you almost have yours complete?
  15. Not much of an update, but i got the engine painted hemi orange tonight. I also got the holes drilled for the spark plug wires on the valve covers, chrome stripped and i put a coat of wrinkle paint on them and put them close to a lightbulb for heat, and the wrinkle looks very in scale! if you heat this paint right after spraying it, it gives it a smaller wrinkle finish.
  16. Looks great! your almost done! do you plan on adding anything in the back, like a bed or seats?
  17. Found this pic for you, hope it helps. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3079180/1968-pontiac-firebird/page-10#30791804015
  18. Thanks for the tip, i'll try my tamiya white fine surface primer, it has good coverage, so hopefully it works! I'll go ahead with my old plans now. It's a neat kit, and mine glows bright. It seams like it's a hit and miss on getting one that glows good, so hopefully you get a good one!
  19. Thanks DC and Billy Joe. I can't wait to see more of these done with some wild paint jobs and the decals! Has anybody notified AMT about the decal problem?
  20. Thanks guys for all the comments! I got the motor glued together and all sanded, ready for primer and paint. I built this kit when i was like 10yrs old (the regular one molded in orange) and i remember it being terrible! haha. My plan for detailing this one to give it the look of being painted white has changed unfortunately... the body is very transparent and if i were to paint the headliner the interior colour, it would show thru on the roof.. same goes if i were to paint under the hood orange. maybe it i give it a coat of white primer first, on the backside of the body and hood it will solve this problem? Thats some cool info! Thanks for letting me know about the interior colour. I was going to ask, because it looked to be brown or maroon in that pic. Your model looks great! do they sell that glow in the dark paint that glows orange?
  21. haha!!
  22. Dang! Thats awesome! do you have the lynyrd skynyrd 8 track in there too? haha. I was actually going to build this car, but the LHS doesn't have any 69 daytona chargers.
  23. I picked this kit up and plan on doing it box stock, the only addition will be a few details like wires and flocking. I know this kit is terrible, but i'll build it for what it is! I plan on leaving it white (just like the real one they used for this episode) so it glows in the dark. my plans are to paint the chassis primer/orange and orange under the hood, to give it the look of the body being painted white I plan on wet sanding and possibly clearing the body as long as it doesn't affect the glowing.. i'll have to test a piece first. This kit is very cool once you charge it under some light and turn the lights off! here's a 1:1 pic of the car used.
  24. Yes it is.. There's a slight mold line on where it should be open, in the four spots If you want to black wash that part or attempt to cut it open.
