I worked on this one about 15 years ago filing and sanding the flash off. Not sure why it got put aside but along with this one i have few more of the Hubley kits prepped and about ready to paint. Anyway i decided it was time to finish this one. It is actually a reissue of the old Hubley kit. I found this paint at Target in the craft section for $1.99. It brushes on ok but really flows on smooth and covers well with the airbrush. I'm going to pick up some more of this paint.

I finally finished one! I built this one quickly (over a two week span, or about 25 total hours, give or take...) AMT/MPC 1932 Chevy. Tried to get it done for a local show that had a Rat Rod theme, but didn't quite make it, so I just finished it. This car is going thru an identity crisis...is it a Rat, or a driver work in progress? Not sure, but I think it turned out pretty cool looking. Phantom Vickie chassis, rear tires, and cooling fan. Revell '62 Impala 409 and 4-speed, with Rat Roaster blower/carbs/velocity stacks/air cleaners, etc. Aluminum rear wheel sleeves, frame spreader bar, and steering column. Parts box wheel centers. Cut down frameless windshield. Monogram '57 Corvette steering wheel. Hypodermic needle tall shifter. Trans tunnel made from cut-down aircraft aux tank. '61 Impala taillights. Beretta Pro Street headers. MAD distributor. Everything else came from the '32 Chevy kit, some parts modified, some out of the box as-is. Weathered/worn Duplicolor primer body, Model Master "Green Go" lacquer accents. Let me know what you think...

I was getting a little frustrated with my '39 Chevy, so I decided to throw together a "quick build" to regain my perspective. I've had this 1:32 scale Pyro '32 Chevy cabriolette in the stash for a while and I figured it would be just the thing to relieve some stress: Low parts count, small scale, and a kit for which I didn't have high expectations in the first place; I was under the impression that the early Pyro kits were less than stellar. Well, we all know what Robert Burns had to say about the best laid plans of mice and men.... Actually, it did serve its purpose. I now have a finished model to look at instead of a mountain of parts, materials and sketches. But seeing the result of "throwing it together", I now wish I had spent more time to bring out the kits potential. Other than having a few parts missing (horns, landau irons, windshield and head light lenses), it's not a bad little kit. By the way, I'll be coming back to this one when I'm done with the '39 to fix the mess I made trying to touch up the steering wheel after I had installed it. Also, the headlights look funny because they're filled with Micro chrystal clear which hasn't fully cured yet. Thanks for looking in, and as allways, please feel free to share your thoughts.
