Scale I Build

  1. The weather's finally warm enough for painting, so I've been laying some paint on a few projects that need them. Based on a car that was owned by a Mrs. Little, who eventually donated the car back to GM. Testor's Model Master Ford Engine Red turned out to be a decent match for the "Satan Red" exterior, while the interior is Humbrol #60 Matt Scarlet. Humbol Ivory was a close enough match for the "Puritan White" wheels on the original.
  2. I know a few people here like to build them, and with Round 2 re releasing the '32 Imperial, it seemed as good a time as any for a classic car group build. To keep things simple, we'll go with the Classic Car Club of America's definition of a high end vehicle built between 1915 and 1948, and use their list of makes that make the cut, but it still leaves a huge selection of subject matter. https://www.classiccarclub.org/approved-classics This is for stock, and stock looking subjects. If you have a burning need to do a Bugatti rat rod. you do you, but this isn't the group for it; Already started projects are fine, and there's no end date, so here's hoping that we see some of your projects.
  3. Another one I built way back when, though it still needs a front bumper. Lindberg kits do have a certain reputation, but every so often they would come up with a winner, and this was one of their nicer efforts. The paint job was based on a 1928 Packard in an Automobile Quaterly article.
  4. The kit is the 1967 issue of the '32 Imperial without the Gangbusters extras, but some very nice box art. This 1931 Imperial is the basis for the eventual colour scheme. A lot of classics have their chassis painted to match the body, but apparently Chrysler just painted the Imperial chassis semi gloss black. The body is done in Humbrol #20 Crimson, though the fenders will eventually be in a slightly darker colour.
  5. Another day another Skyline This time I'm going old skool! I love all the extras this kit comes with! I've never worked with anything photo etched before so I'm very excited to start putting everything together! Not sure i'll paint the little man up, but we'll see. Thinking of going with black and red two-tone on this one. The kit: As usual work starts with finding and removing all the mold seams: That's all for now!

  7. Alright, so a good friend of mine has given me the task of building him a tribute build in memory of his father who he says worked on Terry Labonte's Monte Carlo, seen in the 1984 era. Being that his father worked on the cars, and the fact that his father started building the model, he had also written down a couple notes pertaining to correct colors. Specifically, he noted that the roll cage is red and netting is blue. If the cage is red, would the floor and undercarriage also be red? I'm trying to be accurate with the colors on this and need some help. photos for reference: https://www.google.com/search?q=AH-1Z+Viper&es_sm=122&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=GJwaVcDaHouzoQTM6YDYCw&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=920#tbm=isch&q=terry+labonte+1984 thanks in advance for any tips.
  8. What classic US car could i get on a budget from 0 to 15000$? I`m not super picky,it does not have to be matching numbers, the paint does not have to be shiny etc. Here are my check list. *No rust and bondo, except i could tolerate surface rust and burned paint. I`d prefer it to have everything as for original chrome/alu trim, bumpers etc. No fiberglass rubbish if it`s not original. *The interiour does not have to be 100%,cracked dash or bad carpet, bad weather strips is okay as long as it is original,no aftermarked seats, steering wheel or fluffy carpets and huge stereo. *Everything electrical should be working and hopefully original, lights, heater, wipers, etc. *No compormise are tolerated on safety as with brakes. *The car should run strong and shift smooth,no smokey exhaust or nasty oil leaks. *I would prefer a car that is used and driven regular. No "I was going to restore it but instead i let it rot for 50 years instead of selling it to someone who wanted it up and running" *V8 engine only. Manual or auto does not matter. *Would prefer power steering and brakes, but not an demand if i like the rest. What type of cars am i looking for? 67-69 Chevrolet Camaro. 73 Chevrolet Impala/Caprice sports coupe. 64 Polara 2d ht. 65 Coronet 2d ht. 70 Plymouth Cuda/Barracuda. 70-71 Dodge Challenger. 67-69 Plymouth Barracuda. 70-71 Plymouth Fury 2 door hardtop. 77-79 Chevrolet Impala/Caprice Coupe. 70-73 Pontiac T/A,Formula,Espirit or basic (Not sure what basic model is) 61-67 Chevrolet Impala 2 door hardtop (Does not have to be SS car) 63 Oldsmobile Holiday 2 door hardtop. 63-66 Buick, any 2door hardtop is interesting. (And Riviera) 61-63 Cadillac, any 2door hardtop. 65-69 Ford Mustang. Any tip of where i should be looking besides Ebay and Hemmings?
  9. This is the Pro Shop version of the AMT '57 Chevy that was released in 1998. I know some of you will probably agree with me when I say it's such a good kit it's almost hard to believe it was made by AMT. It has over 160 parts and includes a photoetch set, ignition wire, a small sheet of BMF (which doesn't look like it would be enough to do the whole body, but it doesn't matter because I used the Bare Metal Foil brand Ultra Bright Chrome, which I found surprisingly different from the regular chrome), and a sprue of hoses, which also containes the bumper bullets, molded in soft vinyl, which I think is awesome! I think that's about it for extra goodies. I know a lot of people complain that it doesn't have any custom parts, but I really don't care since I think they looked too good out of the factory to customize. I actually started this about 3 weeks ago, but just now decided to put it up here.
