Hi folks, As the title says, this is a tribute to honour Roger Hayes. He was my favourite builder on this site, and his passing really shocked me. Plowboy had an amazing eye for colour, detail, and was an extremely talented builder. His builds were often subtle both in colour, and modifications, almost always understated. If you are new(ish) here, do yourself a favour and search some of his work. His WIP’s always had lots of great tidbits, I learned a ton from him, and am a better builder because of him. I miss him here… RIP Roger, we miss you pal. For my build, I wanted to incorporate a few of Roger’s builds, and meld them together into one. I started with a 60 Ford P/U, converted it to a shortbox/uni-body, lowered it, tucked the bumpers, opened the grill, tapered the hood, removed the quarter windows, blacked out the trim, and added custom decals. There is a rubber bed liner in the box to protect the paint when hauling parts to the speed shop. The interior got bucket seats, a console with cup holders, dash was modified with new gauges and a nav screen, seat belts, arm rests, PE window cranks, and keys in the ignition. paint is Tamiya dull red, Roger’s favourite interior colour. Under the hood I added an engine from the Super Stallion Mustang, 3d printed battery, washer fluid jug and wiper motor, brake master cylinder, and some very basic wiring. Wheels and tires are from the Foose truck, disc brakes from Pegasus. Link to the build thread below which has more about the build, but more importantly some links to Roger’s incredible work. The first 5 photos are of Plowboy’s work, and my inspiration. I wanted the “look” of his 49 Merc, the subject matter of the 60 Ford P/U, engine from the 62, the uni-body style of the 63 P/U, and wanted to include the colour of the Taurus. (Tailgate letters) The shop truck… colour is pearl white, with one coat of pearl clear, followed by matte clear As always, thanks for looking, and all comments welcome. A big thank you to all of you that followed along on the WIP, and took the time to comment, and share your stories, and favourite builds of Plowboy’s. Probably my most enjoyable build thread. Really cool to know how many of you/us were inspired by him. His legacy lives on. Also want to mention Chuck Most, and Al Rich (thatz4you) who both did tribute builds as well. Cheers, Steve

Hi all, Not exactly sure where to start here… I hope that you will take a minute to read this before you go further. It has been just over 2 years since we lost our friend Plowboy (Roger Hayes). Anyone that knows me here would know that I REALLY liked Roger’s builds. Apart from his amazing sense of style, I liked his diverse interest. His builds were always well thought out, cleanly built, and his colour choices were often understated and unique. If you are not familiar with Roger’s work, I would encourage you to check out some of his threads on the forum. His WIP threads always had something useful to add to your, “I gotta try that” arsenal. Man he was knowledgeable, and good… I learned a ton from him, and he made me a much better builder. I have had a tribute build in my mind for 2 years now. Actually, 3 builds, but I will start with this one. My plan here is to build a tribute, but more importantly, showcase some of Roger’s work. I will be showing a bunch of his work on this thread. I also encourage anyone who wants to share photos of their favourite builds, or tips from Roger, or links to one of his threads, to please do so. This build is about Roger!! We often talk here about not “hijacking” someone’s thread, but for this one I’m encouraging it!! I sat down at my desk Wednesday night (Jan 15th) to come up with a plan. About an hour and a half later, I had a fairly good idea of exactly how to proceed. Colours were an obvious no brainer too. I then sat down with my IPad and went back over some of Roger’s builds, realizing that I had missed some of his earlier posts. (I joined the forum about a year after Roger) As I read thru one of his 60 Ford builds I began smiling, many of the things I planned to do just minutes ago, he had done! I will share more of that as the build progresses. So… my plan: 1960 Ford shop truck. Here’s the starting point… As always, thanks for having a look, and all comments welcome. I will have some progress soon. Cheers, Steve

Hello, First of all: This is all #Plowboy's (Roger Hayes) fault! His drop dead gorgeous California Street 'Vette hit me like a freight train! What a beauty! Check his Vette in this link: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/175154-california-street-vette/ I am mostly a factory stock (and documented replica in the case of race or historical vehicles) modeler. I've done customs, but it is not usually my main subject. Roger's California Street 'Vette inspired me to dig out mine. The back story is that I got this model (and a few others) already built from my High School Art teacher, well over 30 years ago. I graduated HS in '86 and it was shortly after that. To this day, he is a very good friend and one of the main responsibles of me been a Corvette guy. I learned more about Corvettes from him than drawing and painting ? I remember quickly tearing this model apart and with no plan I started fooling around with it. I destroyed the roof louvers by filling them with putty. No idea what I was thinking. Longest shot: anybody has a spare roof louver for this car? Eventually it went back into the box until this week. All major components are there. The original wheels, tires and mirrors are missing which is no big deal. The engine is pretty crude and so is the hood underside. I'll most likely keep the engine in place but glue the hood shut. I thought of adding a modern LS engine but those are 1/25 running on the smaller end and this car is 1/24 running on the larger end. The LS looks really small in there. Anyways, this car is all about the looks. It will take some fixing but the plan is to keep the original look, except for the roof of course. Door handles and key locks are lost. The body needs some massaging but this will be a slow fun project. Color? It will be blue. What shade of blue? I'll get back to you... Thanks, Ismael
