Ace-Garageguy Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) Kinda cool but mostly plotless film about a guy's desire to become a top-fuel driver back when there were still a few front-engine cars running in the class. Lotsa shots of Lions, Irwindale, etc. in the mid-6 second, 220mph days. Other drag classes too, including pre-wing altereds, and the old twin-engined Freight Train gas rail. Mostly car shots, with just enough plot so your girl wouldn't go to sleep from total boredom if you took her to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pskc4AY_Oro For some more great old drag action, be sure to check out the film "Old School Drag Races" too. Greg Myers Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 But these are pretty much the only good representations of what the cars were really like.
tim boyd Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Thanks Bill....what a fun way to blow 90 minutes....the "Drag Racer" film wouldn't have kept girlfriends on a movie date very involved, but probably 75% of the footage is real drag racing action (shot at Lions, Long Beach, and Orange County), and fans of this era (circa 1972 or so) will see many real drag cars they'd recognize from the drags and magazine coverage of the same back then. The brunette is pretty sharp, too! TIM
PeeBee Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Wow, so bad it didn't even obtain cult status! I think I recognize some members of the cast from XXX flicks we used to sneak into on Times Square when I was a kid.
