I've got cans of Testors enamel that over 25 years old that are still good, plus one that's at least from the mid '70s (found it at a Benjamin Franklin 5 and Dime in Covington Indiana) that's still good. As long as the can isn't rusted to allow for the pressure to leak out and paint is still fluid, they should be just fine.

My biggest gripe about Testors, is they have released almost every one of the old Boyd colors, under a different name. But they haven't released any version of the Chezoom Teal. I really like that color.

Not too long ago, I used a can of Testors emerald green metallic enamel that was at least 20 years old, and it worked just fine.

Like Tulio mentioned, it's some of their more recent stuff that I've had trouble with!

I've got a can of Testors orange with a K-Mart 65 cent tag on it that's still okay. I keep it as a relic and wouldn't dream of trying it on a good model.

Then again, I've got Testors bought last year that's bubbled out at a can seam... hit or miss...

More important to me, I have a sealed pack of Johnsonville Bratwurst that says on it "Best if used before 02/01/15".... anyone wanna have some with me?

That's the issue I have had. I bought about 75 cans of fresh new stuff in 2006 and in a few years saw several cans seeping out around the seam. Testors replaced about 20 cans but told me they were actually past the use date.

I was in my box today and noticed more cans had seeped out. I guess I need to start painting more, lol

Soak those brats in beer for a few hours before boiling them in same, Tom, and we'll discuss it.

I have had a few bad cans of testors spray paint's but I have been having more problems with their bottled paints. I have had three bottles that I used once or twice then the paint jelled and got hard, Yet I have four bottles of Pectra from the early 70's that is still good to use. The bad colors that hardened were kept closed and stored with the rest of the bottled paint's. The three Colors were turn singnal amber, saphire blue met, and red. I have had this issue in the past as well with other colors from testors. Anyone else?

For that very reason I haven't bought a Testors bottle in maybe 20 years. I remember my favorite colors were:

Gloppy Black

Lumpy Yellow

and

Never Dry Silver

That's comforting to know I'm not the only one who's had a bottle of the never dry silver.

Found my stash of aerosol paints today in (room temp) storage, after having relocated last year.
Some of the cans covered with a brown sticky varnish like substance.
The leaked can... Testors Metalizer. Right out around the bottom seam.

Edit: Always store Testors in a box. Better yet, a plastic storage tub with a cover. Unless you like to scrub everything down nearby with lacquer thinner.

This may sound like a strange coincidence, but that can I got from Benjamin Franklins just happens to be Emerald Green Metallic.
