IceMan Collections Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) Here she is all wrapped up. Not the easiest build to put together but I managed. Two most troublesome parts were getting the cab to fit straight on the fenders and the door hinges. "The doors hinges work great", they said. I've learned to never trust these plastic door hinges again. I will say it did beat me there. Doors are glued shut. Modelhaus tires and wheels from the 1948 Ford kit. Thanks for looking and comments/feedback welcomed. Petetrucker07 Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Nice build! Looks very cool, stance is just right. Well done.
kilrathy10 Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Oh, Wow....That looks GREAT....Very nice work....Beautiful, Man....Just Beautiful...
IceMan Collections Posted April 23, 2015 Author Posted April 23, 2015 Thank you, everyone, for your comments. I appreciate you taking the time to look and post something.
Drake69 Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Ever since my two vintage "NASCAR" builds I've been warming up to the old 30's~40's style of car/truck. And seeing nice work like this makes it even better. Great job!
Roncla Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 That combination of colours works great with the farm signage.
christian-w Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 The color concept fits perfectly to the stickers / company of the owner It looks pretty good. Like you told: the door hinges are the greatest challenge ever! The only thing, what looks a little ... hm. Not nice .... on your kit is the fitting of the windshield. It's a tribute on the old kits. I like the "face" of the 1940s Ford anyway. If I had the money, I'd buy one of the Coupes...
IceMan Collections Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Thanks Christian. And you're right about the windshield. A challenge for me personally. Always looking for an easy way to get this done.
karbuildr Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Way cool build, and the natural lighting for your photography looks superb.
IceMan Collections Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 Thank you David. I appreciate your comments.
christian-w Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) My brother builds a 1951 Chevy currently. He decided to cut the window inlay apart to separate all the windows. Sanded them all to get them fitted into the frame. Added two picture (from him) for you, to take away all misunderstanding (because of my English) Cut apart Attached into the frame This is an idea, which I memorized in my tiny brain for later Don't know, when I need this maybe. ChrisBcritter Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Congrats on finishing this one so cleanly - the fit of the doors and cab on mine wasn't easy; it took a lot of trimming and I ended up channeling the cab about 1/16" to make everything line up properly. This is an idea, which I memorized in my tiny brain for later Don't know, when I need this maybe. Nice to see how well that works! This is the exact same thing I had planned to do on my '51 Chevy and '50 Olds, although it doesn't apply to this pickup since the truck windshield has no tabs or locators - you just have to finesse the shape of the opening to fit it in from behind.
IceMan Collections Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Thanks Chris. I have another one of these on my bench right now. Did have to sand the doors downtown fit like you did. That will be my third one and I want at least one to have opening doors. Going with a different set of hinges this time. Slow progress on that one but you'll see an update soon in the progress threads.
1hobby1 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 (edited) Sweet build, love the color combo! Just picked this kit up as well and recently opened it and realized mine has no exhaust manifolds or headers for the block was yours the same way? Edited June 1, 2015 by 1hobby1
