am73grand Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I've always wanted to do a Rockford Files car but I couldn't get past the whitewall tires. Then I watched the pilot episode and he was driving a '74 with RWL tires. This was something I could build! Paint is Tamiya Gold. Hood is from Missing Link, tires are from AMT parts pack. Wheels are from an MPC '75 Ventura. Body, is by MPC. The engine is from the Revell '68 Firebird. Chassis and underhood area are from an AMT '70 Camaro. It's not perfect but I'm really happy with how it turned out. I have to figure out how to hide the gap between the cowl and windshield. I also need to add mirrors and plates but I'm calling it done! Thanks for looking!!
Maindrian Pace Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Ron, that's one of the nicest Rockford Firebirds I've seen. I can picture it doing a reverse J-turn with a '75 Monte Carlo chasing it. -MJS
JTalmage Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Thats a beauty! I need to work on mine. Amazing how well the Tamiya gold matches the real car. Got any pics of it in actual daylight? You'll have his first car and I'll have his last car. That would be a cool picture with them together.
kilrathy10 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 That is pretty cool....We used to watch that show all the time.....Had to wait for it to come on, too....Didn't even have a VCR, then....Great job....
Guest Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Very nice, you just need to improve lighting for your pictures.
am73grand Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Thanks Guys! I had a lot of fun building this!
Young iron Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 OMG ! I love these 2nd-Gen F-Babies ! Great job, and great choice !
geetee66 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Love it! It makes me hear the theme tune in my head! Nice looking build. You nailed it.
LongRoofNut Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Brilliant build! Always wanted to build one myself as well. His character was one of the reasons why I went back to college.......later becomimg a detective.
christian-w Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Quite interesting, what parts you put together to this nice car! It deserves better pictures
