Hi fellas. I've started this. THe chassis went together well, the body needed very little clean up. Parts fit so far is great. I usually build trucks but I love sports cars. Cheers.

Looking great so far-- nice job on the space frame. Have you done any test fitting on mounting the doors? Bad fit is the downfall of virtually every other Gullwing kit.

Awesome to see someone post this as a WIP

Many will look forward to hear your experiences with this kit

Looked at mine in the box last night..so many kits, so little time

A lot of us will be looking over your shoulder on this one. Its expensive and I've been waiting to see just how good it is.

I haven't touched the doors yet. Will get to that later today.

Will watch closely how things go on your build. My LHS special ordered this kit in for me but I won't be getting into the city for a few weeks to pick it up.

The doors fit really well. I wonder if I should lightly sand the perimeter of the doors to allow for paint? What do you guys reckon?

Hey Benny you have a digital micrometer or a dial Micrometer? If so measure the doors /hood /blah/blah all openings, now take measures of doors /hood trunk.take a piece of flat styrene(from the kit)and measure the thickness, now primer, and paint, clear and measure the thickness you will have an answer superbike-shaun

I don't have one of those. I plan to use etch primer and tamiya gloss aluminium. I'm going to give the perimeter of the doors a very light going over. Cheers.

Hi fellas. Small update. Got some paint on the body. I'm going to polish it with tamiya polishing compounds. Cheers

Love these gullwing merc's. Looks like this kit goes together quite well. (Tamiya kits are usually very well engineered.) Looks like I'll have to save up and try to get me one of these.

I'll be following as well-----I've got two of these, but I wanna see what you do to it. ;)

IMO this is one of Tamiya's nicest kits, not that they've ever put out a "bad" kit, but inasmuch as when this goes out of production, prices will get high for these quickly!

I'm building this one box stock. I'd like to do a fully detailed one later on when my skills are better. I'm surprised there haven't been more on the forum.

I too am very interested in this one.  I built an AMT version that wasn't too bad when I was a teenager but would like to try a better kit assembled with better skills.  Your model is looking great so far.
