Gimme 5 automotive subjects you'd like to see reissued

Recommended Posts

I'll play realizing full well that we're living in a fantasy world.

1. mpc 1964 Corvette coupe (mpc's first corvette kit)

2. AMT 1965 Corvette convertible

3. Either the mpc or AMT 1966 corvette coupe

4. Either the mpc or AMT 1973 Corvette convertible

5. Either the AMT Sunbeam Alpine or Sunbeam Tiger (had to throw this is just in case you thought there was a trend developing here)

1. The MPC molds are now 1967. Been reissued many times and lots of them floating around.

2-3. The AMT molds are now 1963 and could be reissued as such. Some of the '65-'66 (and '67) custom and extra parts might still be available.

4. Both were made into later model years of Corvette.

5. The Tiger molds still exist and that one could be reissued.

Yes Snake I know that the mpc & AMT molds have been modified but as I said I'll pretend to be living in a fantasy world where they could be restored to original release condition with correct seats, vents and hoods and extras.. I suspect that someday we will see the Sunbeam kit back since it was last released in the Blueprinter series (I believe in the early '90's). If that were to happen I'd like to see it come with the 4 cylinder that was in the Get Smart kit.

These are tools that theoretically could be reissued because, to the best of my knowledge, they haven't been modified into anything else.

Before I hear rants on how "that kit won't ever get reissued", bear in mind, this is just my wish list.

Feel free to add to it. My only criteria is that the tool hasn't been modified since it's last release.

I could get behind the Imperial and the Corvette,  even if the shows they're based on have largely been lost to the mists of time.

I'd like to see the Cat Corvette come back because it's what became of the original 63 roadster with the revolving headlights. And they're still there!

The Imperial is just too cool. I personally wouldn't mind if they took off all the "Hero" trinkets and make it stock with the pickup options.

Just as long as you can build it stock,  I'm not overly worried about the other knick knacks.

Didn't they become the 69, which begat the 70?

That would be : No the  1968 Impala was from the same body style as the 66/67 Impala's . The 1969 were a completely new body style, and was converted to the 1970 Impala.

Ah, I see. So it's possible it could have been set aside.

That would be a good one.

Maybe the same possibility with this...

They used the same chassis and engine right up through '76.

Also the same chrome tree was reused with the old bumpers/grilles wiped and the new ones added as necessary.  Even if the body could be found in useable condition you'd still need a load of new parts created.
