Ron Hamilton Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 When Revell brought out the Lowrider Version of the Cadillac Fleetwood Coupe, I was overjoyed, as my Dad's last car was a 1981 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. Now this car is a Phantom, but I liked it anyway. Of course I had to make it as to what I thought Cadillac would have done if they marketed such a car. In doing this one, I raised it up close to a replica stock stance. The apint is Testors Model Master GM Dark Cherry Lacquer, leaving the Cabriolet Roof un-polished to simulate a vinyl roof. I redid the interior to replicate the Brougham d'Elegance trim package, using pieces of the diamond tufted bench seats from the AMT '62 Catalina Custom as pillow back seats. I painted it with various acrylic gray paint to match the 1989 Cadillac Gray Leather interior. The wire wheels are Detail Master 100 Spokes with Model Car Garage Cadillac Crests. The tires are Michelin Radials, with Vogue White walls painted on with a bow compass. A little detail painting, and some Bare Metal Foil, and there you have it.

Merkur XR4Ti Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Looks fantastic. I was pondering how to get more stock wheels and tires on that kit.

Simon Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Outstanding! The overall look is great, and your work on the interior has really paid off.

Merkur XR4Ti Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Hey Ron, are those tires from a particular kit or from ye olde parts box?
OLDERGUY Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Still like it as much as I did before. Those Caddies ride like your in a recliner, but I'm in the process of doing away with that, the old school way. Just finished pulling and cutting the frt. coils. Ijack it up until the tires come of the ground, measure, pull the whls, & tires, pull shocks out, use spring comp., knock ball joint loose, pull springs, measure leave two and ahalf springs over measurement, reverse everything. Loower, use frt. springs for rear, it take alittle longer to get correct spring length, not as heavy inback, back lowered. Just like a high school ride, bouces alot. Don't forget to have frt. alinded[? spelling]. Put this here just incase anyone wants to lower a coil sprung GM,in my case coupe deville. But I won't have it long, 500 cubic ya know, about 10 mph. around town. 1/1 car if you were wondering.
Ron Hamilton Posted March 1, 2008 Author Posted March 1, 2008 (edited) The tires are from the parts box. I used a bow compass to do the "Vogue" stripes. Edited March 1, 2008 by Ron Hamilton
Zoom Zoom Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Ron, I like your car so well I had a look at my kit and wheel/tire stash. I'm leaning towards a "Bill Mitchell" combo of wire wheels and blackwalls; found a set of Fujimi 3-piece Borrani's that fit Monogram radials and if I use Cadillac crests instead of knockoffs, it looks pretty slick and reasonably "factory", and I can always add whitewalls. Seeing models like this doesn't help my modeler's ADD

Matt T. Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Ron, this looks great! Those wheels are awesome. Nice job. I'd roll it.
