StevenGuthmiller Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 (edited) Finished this up last night & luckily, had a good day for taking some pics, although, they never seem to turn out as good as I'd like them to! This started as an X-EL reissue of the old Johan promo. The interior is a Modelhaus resin piece I mixed the color from a couple of leftover MCW colors that I had laying around, so it's not an exact color replica, but it's pretty close to '59 Plymouth "Powder Blue". The interior upholstery has been painted to as closely match as I could get, the plaid pattern that was in this car. I added nothing but a turn signal switch, a rear view mirror & carpet to the interior. The exterior has had added a scratch built antenna, resin cast mirror & a set of Modelhaus wide whites. I think it turned out pretty well, but I invite any comments or criticism. Steve Edited April 26, 2018 by StevenGuthmiller
YBlock292 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Steve, congratulations! Great built, in Your usual high quality standards! The two tone color combination suits the car beautifully. Ludwig
Harry P. Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Beautiful! If it wasn't for the scale of the surface giving it away, it could almost pass for real.
StevenGuthmiller Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 Thanks So much guys!! Beautiful! If it wasn't for the scale of the surface giving it away, it could almost pass for real. Thanks Harry! Photography is definitely not my strong suit! Steve
Harry P. Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Thanks So much guys!! Thanks Harry! Photography is definitely not my strong suit! Steve Nothing wrong with your photography. I'm just saying that the scale of the surfaces are giving away the fact that the car is a small model. It has nothing to do with your photography, it's just a fact. If you shoot a scale model on a "full size" surface, you can immediately see that the car is not a real, full size car. Know what I'm saying? I wasn't criticizing your photos.
TooOld Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Oh man , that's about the best I can remember ever seeing . . . period . A really , really beautiful model !

I didn't take it as a criticism Harry. I knew what you meant. I've been telling myself for years that I need to put together some sort of "back drop" for taking photos. Unfortunately, building seems to keep taking precedence, & I never get it done. Oh well, maybe someday. I never really expected anyone to mistake my builds for real anyway. Steve
StevenGuthmiller Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 thank you so much everyone.....Really!! This one really put a damper on my "one per month" goal! My last one was finished in the first part of April! Oh well, I guess I can blame it on the season! Steve
Harry P. Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I never really expected anyone to mistake my builds for real anyway. With a little clever photography, you never know...
ChrisBcritter Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Sharp, sharp, sharp! I remember seeing a few finback Mopars in this color scheme (including a '58 Savoy that was abandoned in my neighborhood). Hope the mold for this one turns up again like it did for the Dodge.
Ramfins59 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 That's a great looking Plymouth Steven. The colors are perfect on it, and your interior is just awesome.
StevenGuthmiller Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 (edited) With a little clever photography, you never know... As Sollozzo in the Godfather said, "You over estimate me kid, I'm not that clever". Steve Edited June 8, 2015 by StevenGuthmiller
