mackd Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) Good the Hood went to the molding. I have completed another long step. It is one of the reasons why I do not intend to do a lot of this model. The cab supports are rather special. [ Edited September 8, 2015 by mackd
72 Charger Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Alain Will the cab n hood be sold as a kit ? If yes how much will it run at ?

mackd Posted September 17, 2015 Author Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) I just finished the first part of my rear suspension for the CAT. I am not sure that I'll do another kit. It is too much work Edited September 17, 2015 by mackd

Truck parts Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is outstanding work you have done.
truckabilly Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I can imagine how much work is behind such a detail like this. It must have taken hours. You have my respect.
mackd Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 (edited) Thank you: Brian,Marc,Dennis,Gordon, and Jaroslav, for your comments. Here is finish my proto type of suspension. Rest the two stoper after fram make, then make the copy for the entire kit. as I said previously it will be impossible to cast the entire piece, it is possible that I am a master mold in twelve parts, but without bolts. It is a possibility. My sketch of the suspension Edited September 23, 2015 by mackd
gatorincebu Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 WOW!!!!!!!! Alain, You are a true craftsman ! If you are going to cast this suspension. Could you make it with a option for the regular axle spread and /or a Canadian spread ??? Be Well Gator
mackd Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Thank Brian and Marc.It is a suspension set on Canadian trucks. When you say ordinary, is that you mean simple wheels.?
kilrathy10 Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Good Flippin' Gravy, Holmes.....That is some awesome scratch building.....Awesome......
mackd Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Thank you JT, I think I'm a can sick to do such work.
gatorincebu Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Thank Brian and Marc.It is a suspension set on Canadian trucks. When you say ordinary, is that you mean simple wheels.? Alain, What I meant was the normal center to center axle spacing , and the center to center spacing for the Canadian spread. The reason I ask. I have some really nice but rather large wheels and tires. They will require more space between the axles. be Well Gator
mackd Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) There are three lengths. 54 "= 60" = 72 ". I have done a 60 "to see the suspension.Here in the normal Quebec is 54 " Edited September 25, 2015 by mackd
gatorincebu Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 There are three lengths. 54 "= 60" = 72 ". I have done a 60 "to see the suspension. Here in the normal Quebec is 54 " Alain, That is exactly what I meant. I would think if you make a 60" and also have the option for the 72". That would work nicely and I would buy at least two of each. Be Well Gator
mackd Posted September 26, 2015 Author Posted September 26, 2015 Marc, I do not know yet if I'll sell this master. The reason is that it is impossible to mould the suspension assembled. The solution the moulding in twelve parts but without bolts. Two guys want the master now, I do not know if they will be interested without bolts. the other question, how much they will offer me for the kit? I do not sell my master, if I sell the kits made a hand. They may be more expensive but will be complete.Alain.
gatorincebu Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Okay, I understand the dilemma. I may just have to have one of those suspensions regardless . Be Well Gator
hooknladderno1 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Alain,I once again marvel at your craftsmanship and level of detail! I am thoroughly enjoying this build! David
mackd Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 For my suspension I used the rear axles of the Prostar. I made more realistic stabilisation bars. I placed in difficulty I had forgotten to do the safety straps. I received my first plays Dave Carey. Dave has done a great job of molding. It is a master of casting.
