bisc63 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 If you're lucky enough to have an "Ollie's" near you, they have in stock this week an assortment of Dupli-color "Perfect Match" automotive touch-up paints in 8oz. spray cans for 99 cents per can! I found seven colors and clear I can easily use in modeling. These are acrylic lacquer and spray very nicely. Ollie's price stickers cover the OEM matching numbers, but I was just looking at them as close-enough sort of usage. You can make out some labeling; my dark burgundy-ish color turned out to be GM's Dark Garnet Red Metallic, and my silver is from Honda!
Tom Geiger Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Nice. I may have to make that drive!! Note that Ollies is a close out store and not all stores get every deal. Maybe 4 years ago, I discovered the Ollies in Pottstown, PA when people posted the big Lindberg blow out on the boards. My store just had the least desirable of the Lindberg kits, so I didn't buy any. What I discovered was the Duplicolor closeout on the Truck Colors line. Those were the tall cans at 99 cents each. I knew it was a one time thing so I bought over 50 cans. I bought every color I liked, in quantity. And all their primer and clear. Then we entered a dry spell. Note that this store is a bit too far to go there for no reason, so I'd pop in if I was passing by. For years they had nothing Duplicolor except the temporary decoration sprays (used for decorating graduation cars, etc). Recently, actually on my way home from NNL East, I stopped in and they had a mess of primer, a few other auto colors and engine color paints. Note that primer at $1 a can is gold! So it's hit or miss.
jbwelda Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 you guys better buy that stuff up, last time I went looking for some specific duplicolor spray, all I could find were those little mascara dispenser wand things. I thought it was just in California but even looking for out of state sources, I came up empty. so I am assuming they are all dead stock out at the outlets at this point. does anyone know where one can mail order duplicolor spray cans? jb
426-Hemi Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 -Last time I was at Ollie's in Maryland, (couple years ago now) they had it. at 33 cents a CAN! OR 5 for $1.00. you bet $10 or $15 was spent right then an there!
mikemodeler Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I was in an Ollie's today and they had a lot of blues and reds with some silver and gray. They have a sale through tomorrow that gives you 15% off EVERYTHING in the store, so those cans of paint are now just $.85! I did notice that they had some Rustoleum automotive primer in a large can for $3.99, might have to go back for a couple!

And I live in northern California.
jbwelda Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Del thanks for the tip maybe I will swing by an OReillys, but it sounds like you are talking about non-aerosol paint? I would more like spray cans (and at the prices mentioned above, but yeah, dream on). I remember they used to line a wall at pep boys but they had zero at the one I went to. jb
