Ben Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I'm confused, I have been seeing the A-Team Van painted two different ways. One way, it has charcoal gray on top and the other way, it's black on top? Which way is correct?
bobthehobbyguy Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 The grey on top is how I remember it. If you google it you see it that way also.

bobthehobbyguy Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 The original van was gray. The black version is from the movie they did a humber of years back.
Atmobil Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Looks to be grey over the stripe: http://imcdb.org/vehicle_2229-GMC-Vandura-G-1500-1983.html
Joe Handley Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Yeah, the Gunmetal/Red Stripe/Black is right, but a lot of the toys were just black with a red stripe sticker or tampo print. Never noticed the movie van was like that too, though.
Atmobil Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I always thought the van was all black with a red stripe. Must have been because I was 8 when I first saw the show.

It had to be the toys, all the ones I had were all black with the red stripe, although the AMT kits have always showed that it was the 3 color job instead.
Ben Posted July 3, 2015 Author Posted July 3, 2015 Yea, I had always thought it was all black as well until recently. Thanks for the help guys!
martinfan5 Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 The movie version and tv series are different, the movie version was all black, the series was black and and whatever color we want to call it \ To throw a wrench , they also used a Chevy van too And for some stunt work, a Ford van
Joe Handley Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I think the Chevy and Ford vans came after GMC dropped their sponsorship of the show and stopped supplying new vans and they actually had to provide their own like on Dukes of Hazzard.
Noflacko Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 Here is an original for sale with ORANGE stripe https://www.facebook.com/groups/543053889133520/permalink/3221441184628097/

Lots of little differences when compared to screen grabs from the actual show.

I mean to the truck for sale in the link Gregg. The one in the pics has a grey dash and the one for sale has a black dash plus other differences. I'm not saying it's not a legitimate truck, just not as the trucks on the show were set up. Possibly, it war over-restored or maybe it was one the production company had built for promotional purposes ,, taken around to car shows and whatnot.
Joe Handley Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 From what I had read on Jalopnik, the auction van was a licensed replica for the show circuit, like World of Wheels, which would explain the differences in that van, sounds like who ever built it also started with a ‘79, which would have had a different grill as marker lights that would need to be swapped out for then correct appearance. Not sure if the lighting is bleaching out the stripe and spoiler or if some left over General Lee Orange was used to paint that though
Joe Handley Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 Here’s the Jalopnik article and the pic they show of the van in question. https://jalopnik.com/heres-your-chance-to-finally-be-b-a-baracus-1845908264

Was probably a whole different interior color from the factory and didn’t bother repainting it. My parents had 2 window vans from that time period, a ‘78 in black with red vinyl, carpet, and plastics/plaid cloth inserts/perforated white headliner and an ‘87, also in black, but had a barely 2 tone grey interior, other than colors, perforations in head liner, 3pt belts for the front seats, head units (the ‘87 had a tape player), steering wheel and column, and power switches vs hand cranks for windows and door locks, the insides were otherwise the same.
