3100 chevy Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Components -air cleaner -early ford backing plate I am not Sure how accurate this is but it looks good enough for me and thought I'd share it
mike 51 Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 (edited) You may have the parts backwards.....I think the backing plate should be on the other side of the "drum" with the flange against the backing plate.Good idea though....if it's not glued try moving the parts around and see what you think. mike 51 Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Try turning the brake "drum" over. Your pic of the real thing shows what I mean..the "small end" goes inside the wheel. Maybe file the flange to match the fins on the backing plate side of the drums like in the pic? Not a big deal, just my impression.
blunc Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 The backing plate goes on the other side of the brake drum (on real cars). Of course, you may assemble it any way you wish.
1972coronet Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 The tapered-end fits-into the backside of the wheel(s) , with the "bell" end facing the suspension .
