Would Dupli-Color's engine enamel be too "hot" for their primers? How about using Perfect Match clear on it? Would the clear craze the color coats?

Being able to use their engine enamels would open some color options for me.........

Thanks for any help!!

I've had "real" engine enamels badly craze some un-primered kit plastics. A barrier of Duplicolor primer has always worked for me so far.

I also recently had a Pontiac blue engine paint give poor coverage on un-primed edges, trying to pull away and pool in flatter areas. Again, a properly scuffed primer coat solved the problem nicely.

As always, TEST on the particular plastic in the kit you're working on before committing to painting (and possibly ruining) the model.

I have a can of Chevy Engine Red I often use on Chevy engines, although it's a little thick-looking and a little glossy for engines. I once painted a model body with it and wasn't 100% happy with the results...fortunately it came right off with Easy Off.

As others have said, do some testing on spoons to see if the paint will work for YOU.

I just wanted to show you guys these awesome products I ran across......... The primer lays on super smooth and thin, and is "tough" enough to handle the Perfect Match paints.

The clear won't craze itself like the acrylic enamel will, and is rock-solid dry overnight........... I didn't like the spray pattern the tips made, so I switched them out for Perfect Match tips........
