cobraman Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) Not sure how wise of an idea this is or even if I can pull it off but let's give it a try. Not trying to build a better looking Cobra ( like that's even possible ) but rather just something a bit different. Going to take a ton of work but going to see what happens. Corvette roof on a Cobra ? Is that even legal ? : ) Edited August 27, 2015 by cobraman update
chunkypeanutbutter Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Should be cool! Boattail Daytona Coupe!
BIGTRUCK Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Nothing better than a neat custom and new ideas, go Cobraman..
wayne swayze Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Now that's totally illegal Ray, but that's why you should do it! No one will get hurt either. That's a great idea!
afx Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Yes you certainly are going in another direction will your hardtop conversion Ray. I'll be watching.
aurfalien Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Hey, mebbe chop the top it a bit. Might be even more cool.
cobraman Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 Thanks for the encouragement guys. I think I will have my hands full without trying to chop the top. : )
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Cool. This is going to be good. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this one.
Mike Kucaba Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Go for it Ray! Call it a TOP SECRET concept COBRA!
cobraman Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 Thank you, thank you ! Did some cutting today. As the old song says...... It's too late to turn back now. : )
Foxer Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Glad to see you going ahead with this.. you have enough stock Cobras to satiate your needs! I hope you're going to carry the boat tail downwards and not do a Daytona chop .. eheh.
cobraman Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 It will have the boat tail. Hopefully. : )
1930fordpickup Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 What if you curved the boat tail down the back of the car so as to not lose the feature but not make the car longer? Pie cut the top at the back so that you can bend it down?Just a thought Ray. I will stop meddling in your cool project now.
cobraman Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Andy, I always welcome ideas. Sometimes I even use them . : )
Scale-Master Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I like the idea and am curious to see how you reconcile the fit of the rear.
cobraman Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 I have made some more progress on this. I have the first round of putty done but as you can see I have more to do. I was not sure what to do with the back end. Good or bad I finally decided to cut and section the front of a 40 Ford hood and attach that to the bottom to form sort of a stinger. Not sure if this was the best way to handle it but I could not think of anything better.
BIGTRUCK Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Thats one way to do it, pretty clever solution
Foxer Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Using a piece of 40 Ford nose looks to be a good solution to get the form there.
