I've seen just about everything covered here: but what I haven't seen "yet" is anything on trans linkage... I'm sure it's out there but I haven't been able to find it.

I'm working in1/25 scale - has anyone ever done this before?

{I'd like to make it move if possible}

Depends on the type of transmission, and the vehicle it's installed in. Automatics typically have a cable or a single rod going from the shift lever to a lever on the side of the trans. Some new automatics have only wires connecting them to the input device.

Manual transmission linkage is just about infinitely varied. There's column-shift, floor-shift, 3-speed, 4-speed, more-speed; There are Lenco and other drag-racing transmissions that have multiple levers; there are air-shifters; there are transmissions where the gear lever goes directly in to the top or side or end of the trans itself, and many where the linkage is external and attaches to the side of the gearbox in a complex assortment of links and arms.

Some technical knowledge about the real transmission you're wanting to model is helpful, because armed with that, you can get Google to help you find photos and diagrams that will make building a model of what you see logical and straightforward.

There are even a few kits that have well-represented shift linkage in them. Not many, but they do exist in 1/25 scale.

It will depend upon which trans you are using. Assuming a '60's style 4-speed with external linkage, Model Car Garage makes a photoetched fret with the shifter body, tabs for each rod to attach to, and some aluminum rod to make the linkage rods. I think making the trans function like the real thing is going to be difficult without the ability to machine your own parts, though.

Ace: I came across the Revell '55 Jukebox Pro Mod Kit... I haven't been able to find much information on the actual car. I picked this one up a swap-meet and it came with no instruction sheet.

So I basically just kinda reachin' in the dark right now.

Casey: Not really looking to make it functional just to give it the appearence... to get one of the links to move would be pleanty for me.

And don't forget the mid-forties Chevies with the vacuum-assisted three-on-the tree.

Are you looking for information on a specific model? That might help getting answers.

If you are talking the Ford Jukebox drag car, the instructions are here:

It appears to have a Lenco transmission.
