JPolli Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Hi Guys This is my 2nd attempt at a truck build. It is a MPC Mack DM 600 with a heavily modified garbage truck body that was taken from a Mattel front loader trash toy truck. The wheels and tires are from American Industrial Truck Models. The decals are hand made. Jim
Plastheniker Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Ingenious idea, a very unusual and attractive model.
gatorincebu Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Good use of a toy to make a model of a unavailable subject ! Over the years I have seen several scratch built refuse haulers/collectors. This fits right in It looks good to me! Be Well gator
av405 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Nice. I love the look of the trash in the back.
scummy Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Excellant job mate , thinking outside the box for the compactor rear .
disabled modeler Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Cool.... I wish someone would make a kit of one like AMT was going to years ago.
christian-w Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 The trash in the back is the detail for the point of the "I" Nice one!
Atmobil Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Oohh....I like it a lot. Garbage trucks are a missing part of the models that are available as kits. You have done a fine job on converting a toy in to this. Do you have a link to what toytruck you used as a donor?
JPolli Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 Thanks for the nice comments. No, I don't have a link to the toy trash truck. I purchased it at a discount second hand store for one dollar. I had to do major cutting and reshaping to make it a rear loader. I do remember the Mattel name on the bottom of it when I was hacking. It would be nice if a resin maker would come out rear loader garbage truck body.
kilrathy10 Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 (edited) Very nice work.....I like it a lot.....Short and stubby to get into those tight alleyways.....Awesome use of the toy.....Great job....Just too cool... Edited October 27, 2015 by kilrathy10
