Mark M Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) Here is my "in progress shot" of my 1/25 Gran Torino from the TV series Starsky and Hutch. The model was thougherly washed with liquid detergent. I primed it with Italian Red, Then air brushed seven coats of Italian Red, Wet sanding in between each application. The tricky Stripe decal was applied and gently aligned into position. I used Micro Sol to nudge the decal down.I used bare metal foil on the trim ,I then airbrushed several coats of clear...Still a work in progress as I need to clean it up a little and as I plan a diorama based on the Pilot episode of the series. Crusader101 Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Indeed, great work....color, stance spot on.
spencer1984 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Very nice, that's looking great. Can't wait to see it "in scene!"
Phildaupho Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Very attractive. Great paint job. Your very well done build makes me very impressed with this new kit.
Yahshu Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Very nicely done. One thing I keep noticing though with those who have built this kit, and that is the strip is being placed high on the front guards and not down on the front wheel arch as per the 1:1, is this a decal problem?

The stripe does fit a little high(I am a big fan of the original series), Having built two of these already, I can say that if you angle it down where it is on the real car it will NOT line up with the roof decal...Again, From my experience. More finished pics to come.

The kit seems to be a combination of features from the various cars used on the show and movie. The "high stripe" is accurate for the pilot episode, but the pilot car also had chrome mirrors and side molding: Edited November 9, 2015 by spencer1984
Mark M Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 I just watched the pilot again...It seems they keep switching back and fourth between the Hero car And other Car that was used as the "Mistaken for Starsky's, but not really car".
Yahshu Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Thank you for clearing that up, looks like if I ever get around to building mine I'll be painting the stripe, till then it will stay wrapped in it's plastic.Once again, very nice build.
