mod3l Lover
Hello all, This is my very first build thread, and my first resin kit ever built! The body is a Jimmy Flintstone body my wife got me for Christmas last year, and when the '29 Ford roadster kit came out, I knew I had a frame to use. I have started some of the cleaning up the body work. I knew that would take me a bit, and it did.

Dennis Lacy
Chopped Model A coupes make fantastic hot rods and combining one with parts from the new roadster kit sounds like a solid plan.
mod3l Lover
I did a few more things with this project. And I'm going to post some pics later today. My hopes are that you good people can give me some input on a few choices also. It's a bit of that "I just can't decide" kinda thing going on! I opened up the trunk for viewing the few goodies that come with the '29 kit, but then wanted to add all new goodies instead.
mod3l Lover
The new trunk lid is a styrene one, much easier towork with than that resin chuck that came out of there! But it's in need of some sizing to fit perfectly.
dirttrackdave
Good luck on your build! I have not tried to open doors on rein bodies yet (they, have been oval track bodies,,I've used.) Is the same method used, the back of a knife ? we'll be watching (no Pressure!) Edited December 2, 2015 by dirttrackdave can't spell!! mod3l Lover
Thank you Dave, all the kind comments arehelpful indeed! I was afraid when I started it,and then I realized why. I had the body crackright below the trunk opening! It was pretty easily mended with some CAtype glue. By the way, I love dirt track cars of all types!Do you have any builds posted here? David S. DrKerry
Great start on it!!!!! Good luck on your first resin build, it's not much different than cutting plastic!!!

mod3l Lover
Today I'm hoping for a bit of input on some choices for interior stuff. I have door panels, the seat, dash and a few other things thought out, but I can't decide on the steering wheel choice for this car! Here is a couple pics on what I got so far. geemoney
nice build, keep going!I have that body too, I was a bit upset that part of the beltline was omitted!
Spex84
Looks like some good parts so far...I love "A" coupes.I'm fond of the center steering wheel, the tri-spoke design with the bullet center. I guess it depends on the overall style goal.
Mr. Metallic
I'm digging the center steering wheel also. However, you may want to mock up the interior to make sure that wheel doesn't get too close to the seat. Otherwise you may have to choose one that doesn't have such a deep dish to it. mod3l Lover
I'm going with that wheel in middle for sure, or as long as it fits! Thanks for the advice on that issue Craig. I spent a bit of time on adding a little length to the deck lid. It needs yet material added in the width also. But then I'm back to the rest of the build, I hope!?! Thank you all for any comments and help!
mod3l Lover
I also want to mention how pleased I am with the way the '29 roadster frame fits in the '30 coupe body. There was quite a bit of hogging out of the body needed to make it work. But I wanted that kinda thing for the skills I need for future resin builds! Anyway, I think it fits in there pretty darn good!!
mod3l Lover
Well good people, . . . I think my mind is made up regarding the stance and frame length. But like many of you would agree, picking out the wheel and tire choice can be a trial in itself! I want the car to sit pretty much like the 2 pics I am posting below.
mod3l Lover
But then the wheel and tire choice is likely going to be one of those things that will keep changing maybe right to the end. Here are a few of my choices for now. I would very much like some input on this matter also! Thanks, >David

mod3l Lover
Hey John, Thanks for the input, I'm leaning that way too!The way I look at it, a blown flathead will needat least a 9 inch wide tire! But the American Racing wheels are kindaworn out. I want to maybe use some castaluminum wheels of some type. David S.
Spex84
Lookin' good! For optimal proportions, try moving the front wheels back by about 1cm or a half inch. It's looking very long in front right now.All of those wheel-tire choices look good; I'm fond of the first one. The chrome-reverse/painted wheel in the second photo is very cool, but with the double white/red stripe slicks it's a little busy looking. Rotorbolt73
Looks good David. The trunk lid seems familiar..Wasn't that in the box of parts I sent you?
mod3l Lover
Yeah Matt, good eye! I was so happy tohave it when I chopped that trunk out! That's not the only part that came from thebatch of goodies you sent me. The flathead is also from that stuff. David S.
crazyrichard
nice !! and i love the red wheels / steelies ! .. and yes bit long now .. i would mock up the engine radiator and grilleshell and then place the axle so it fits ps with this body .. try a mock up with the frame low to the ground .. real low i'll bet that would look killer ... z frame .. hmmmmm Edited December 5, 2015 by crazyrichard

Have you considered the louvered trunk panel from the '32 5w? Or are you going for the smooth look? I'd go w/ the center steering wheel also if you're installing the shifter w/ the skull. To get it a lot lower I will lose the trunk view I was afterwhen cutting it open! But, the mock up idea is very helpful! I was just fiddlingwith it a moment ago, and I realized that I will have to domany such mock ups to make this one work out. I also think that I might just have to buy a couple moreof those bodies to do in different ways. Very low with a Z'd frame and no open trunk will be myfirst one! David S.
