It´s this kit

Tall_T.thumb.JPG.9d2b822b3df9c64b9a27a86

There´s a different version available with a stock Tall T, but I wanted this because of the chopped body and because I just need the wheels, chassis, engine and radiator from the stock version for the vintage racer. The body will be built from scratch with the driver´s seat above the differential. Inspiration to build myself a neat vintage racer came from HERE

Yes, that's the kit I used.

Guys if you'll indulge me,  I have an old custom build that has been languishing to long.  Since it's mostly done I'm going to make it my Christmas break project. I'm going to rat it out. Make it look like someone's project car that just got too long in the tooth. So if you don't mind I'm going to it here before I start the '56.

I think I'll give this a go. I've been wanting to.build this resin cab for awhile now. I'm thinkin of Welderup style. Twin turbo Cummins in a Jimmy chopped Pete cab. I'm gonna call A-hole Pete.

Wow, I got a lot of irons in the fire but this sounds so cool.  If I get in. mine will truly be a Rat Rod cobbled together with whatever I have laying around.

I saw an episode of one of those car shows where they built their first rat rod, and although I didn't care for the result, I learned a lot about the genre.  West Coast style anyway.  I hear EC & WC have different styles.  I don't know if us Midwesterners have a style of RR, but if its like everything else we do, it is down to earth, classic, and mean!

I just dug through the ol parts box. I've got just about everything I need for this. I even came across a set of rubber casted tires that I forgot about that'll be perfect on this build. So this will be a parts box build. I didn't think I would ever be able to say that about a truck build. I'll get all the parts together this weekend or next and post a pic of it all. I'll also do a build thread in the truck section, as well as progress pics on here.

Excellent. So after smoothing the red oxide, I laid the grey. Tomorrow I'll sand that smooth and thin it out so that the red oxide starts to peek through. Then I'll foil and decal, and then start with the weathering powders.

Edit: I've decided to throw a very thin coat of a standard body color, and go for the classic patina finish like the truck below.

Here's a rough idea of what I'm going for. The cab will be sittin a little higher. No hood.

Very cool.

Not saying I don,t like the front tires in any way ,just to let you and anyone else know  that the tires from the Chrysler Atlantic kit fit some of the semi rims , if anyone wants to put a low profile tire on them. I have a plan for one  too!

Thanks Pat! I have a Chevy dually project that'll get a set of the low pro tires. I know the 22 inch Pegasus tires also fit, with some work. My next trip into Pegasus, I'm gonna ask if I can buy just the tires.

Here is what I'm going to give it a shot with.  The base is a BMW Z-8.  The engine will be a 354 Hemi from a '56 Chrysler 300.  Everything else is up in the air!
