This is a 1/43 scale Provence Moulage kit of the 1953 Lincoln Cadillac that raced in the Carrera Panamerica road race. It is probably the most bizarre car I have ever built.  The canopy of the car was a from airplane, I think a T6 Texan. The car was raced by Jose Ham Gunam and failed to finish. Dupont Cadillac Firemist red shot through the Paasche and lots of bare metal foil. Weird!

'bout as close as Mexico got to a space program...

...seems as though the race-preparation plan went something like "attach many shiny things to car"...

...canopy was from a Vultee BT-13/15 trainer...   BT13top.jpg

I posted a pic of this some years back under a different title, something like Caddishmitt. Anyway, I grabbed some photos from an old copy of Motor Trend I believe, or some car publication from the 1950s. Well a few years ago it got resurrected by some South American members on the HAMB pages.

Here is a link to the full feature(Topic) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/iii-la-panamericana.482520/

Fabulous subject and beautiful execution in such a small scale. I have always felt about this car and their entry in the Carrera that the attitude was "if you're gonna give a party you should come dressed in style"!

I was just thinking these guys may have not ever planned on actually winning the race but had heard the old addage"if it don't go fast, chrome it'.it's also the only race car I ever saw with tail gunner's seat in the back!
