Cpt Tuttle Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Maybe it is quite obvious which direction this one is taking?
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 Finished the wheelsOne first coat on the engine block....molded in black equals SOOOO much fun....not!
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 A bit more work on the engine, at least there is dual quads and headers included, aluminium heads are a quick fix with the brush and maybe it is strong enough to pull the tyres through the sand now, at least if we expect the engine to be something better than a 1979 305"...
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 Did some weathering of the tires by giving them a wash in tan....still much work left to do, of course.I found an air cleaner in the parts bin that did fit very well, since the model didn't have one. Also, I did some weathering of the engine, be honest, is it looking any convincing at all?I will paint the fan black, it is too plasticky looking in chrome....
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 Since the rear axle and leaf springs supplied in the kit are far from good looking, I decided to replace them with parts from the AMT Chevy S10.The axle has the right width and the springs have the correct length. It's hard not to go overboard with weathering the parts, since this is no offroad jeep that has been in a mud hole, but I think this might be good.
espo Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Are you going to make a 4 wheel drive system or keep it a 2 wheel drive ? Looks like a fun build either way.
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 Even if it is a fun idea, I will not convert it to 4wd.
GTJUNIOR Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Not my taste, but very nice work being done here.
Cpt Tuttle Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 Body painted, decals in place, now it needs some weathering...
Johnt671 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 The motor looks like a beat up old motor. Nice work.
