Harry P. Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Looks like we have a pretty good conversation going about the movie "Duel." So in that regard, I have to recommend another movie to you guys...Tucker: The Man and His Dream, starring Jeff Bridges, Martin Landau, Lloyd Bridges, Joan Allen and Christian Slater. If you are in any way a "car guy" and you haven't seen this movie, I guarantee you will enjoy it. Watch it. You'll love it. Heck, even if you had no interest in cars whatsoever, it's still a great movie!
Petetrucker07 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I've seen this movie. It is a good one. I saw it once about 5 years ago or so.
cobraman Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I saw it a while ago. May be time to see it again. Does anyone know about the accuracy of the story in the film ??
Harry P. Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 The timeline of the movie compresses the actual timeline, and some characters and events are altered slightly for the benefit of presenting the story, but the plot and all of the basic elements of the movie are accurate.
Dave Van Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Saw the film when it came out....I own the DVD now.......needless to say I like the film as much as the car itself. Many claim it is wildly inaccurate in the facts......I prefer to think it does compress story lines and dramatizes some facts....but the overall affect is a VERY good one. Some say the car itself caused the failure.....I think it has SOMETHING to do with the big 3 and the fear Tucker caused them.
GeeBee Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I've got the DVD, only available in the NTSC format, luckily I have a multi region player, cracking film,
madhorseman Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) I remember seeing it a while back, as well. A very good movie, it's about time to see it again! Edited January 9, 2016 by madhorseman
Danno Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I agree, Harry. I've enjoyed the movie every time I've viewed it. I have it in my personal library and I've watched it several times at home since the first time at a theater.Highly recommended.
Roadrunner Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I've intended to watch it, but never got around to it yet.
Harry P. Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 Anyone here on this forum who hasn't seen it needs to see it. You will like it. Guaranteed.
1930fordpickup Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Years ago I picked up a VHS copy and I watched it . Liked it very much. Sent it to Dads for him to watch never got it back. LOL Darn kids not returning things. LOL He said it was pretty close to what was going on. His dad ( yes my grandfather) had his Tucker ordered and all he got was a receipt for a down payment and his luggage that you received when you put money down. I asked grandpa if he still had it , no sir it was wore out years ago he said.
unclescott58 Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Own both the Tucker movie and Dual on two different DVDs. Tells you what I think of both films.
unclescott58 Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I liked his choice in dogs- Dalmatiansgreg The Dalmations thing was a true story.
Lunajammer Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 (edited) Back in '88 while on vacation, Industrial Light and Magic hosted public exhibition at the San Rafael Civic Center of all their coolest movie props; tons of film used Star Wars models, gouls, costumes, almost everything they'd done for every blockbuster movie. On the way out was one of Francis Ford-Coppela's Tuckers to promote his new movie. I was thrilled, had never seen one before and couldn't wait for the film.In the movie, all those gorgeous Tuckers lining up outside the courthouse. If I recall, that was the most Tuckers brought together in one place since they left the factory. How come that's not on the list of greatest car movies of all time?
