polar lights mustang funny car body

I've got the gas ronda version and was comparing the box cover picture of the real car to the model body, and the model body just does not seem to have enough curve on the hood, roof and rear deck.  Anyone notice this ?  Is the Comp resins 69 Mickey Thompson Mustang FC more realistic ?? Thanks !

It is actually not too bad and pretty darn close. Keep in mind that this body will do a 69 and a 70 body and after all, they are funny car bodies. Not exactly the most accurate things around.

The CR M/T bodies are more geared towards the M/T cars and they do differ a bit from the Gas Rhonda bodies.

OK gents let's settle this.

The Polar Lights kit(I'm going from experience with the 2 Blue Max kits I bought for parts and projects) make a great 1970 Mustang funny car body to use.  The '69 front end is BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH, so I grafted the lower '70 spoiler/pan to the '69 grill to make a presentable 1969 body.  The CR M/T 69 Mach One body is PERFECT if you want to duplicate the original M/T car(which I am.).  I am finishing up the PL 1970 Mustang body with an old JoHan M/T Pinto chassis I have had since it first came out.  The PL tin is period but junky, so I am using the modified tin work from the Pinto to fit in the Mustang body.  It also uses an aluminum BOSS 429 motor so it can be a REAL funny car, not a "Wacky Racer".  Just have to decide on what color to paint body so it can be finished.

Hello from Canada. My name is is Barry, and I have built several of the PL Mustang kits. When PL designed the kit, they made a one size fits all chassis. Which works for the Charger and 'Cuda, but too long for the Mustang. The front wheels will rub against the body at the front wheel opening. I had to shorten the chassis side rails by 3/32 of an inch by cutting the rails just behind the spot where the radius rods are glued to the frame rails. I added a support flat bracket made from .020 scrap about 1/14 inch long, glued from in behind the rail, for strength, and that's it. Done. If all works out ok,and make sure the frame is square, the front wheels should line up dead center in the front wheel opening of the body. I hope this helpful, and good luck with the build.
