70mach1 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 This kit's not as crappy as people say it is. I consider it to be a blank canvas. The details are soft, but workable, with some scratch building. The 17 piece body went together very well and precisely. (I was really impressed.) The only real problem was the front and rear bumpers and the mounts. They had to be re-worked to look okay, but not perfect. The engine was wired and plumbed. Scratch built inside and outside door handles, window cranks, outside rear view mirror, and tail lights. Parts box fog lights, windshield wipers, and tires. Refinished in PPG lacquers, clear coated with DuPont urethane clear.
Harry P. Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 This kit has a long-standing reputation for being somewhat less than ideal...but whatever issues the kit has, you obviously worked right through them and then some! Gorgeous! I love the underhood detailing, the paint job, the interior...heck, ALL of it! Fantastic work.

ripp Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I've never seen this kit but if you guys say it's difficult i'll believe you. Beautiful job though, really sweet.
FORDSVTPARTS Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Are those th etires and wheels that came with the kit? They actually appear to be proportionate, unlike the Auburn speedster tires and wheels. I might pick up the Cord kit just for those if they are the ones in the kit.
george 53 Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 YEEESH Mach, you seem to have performed a miracle! I've never seen one so nicely done, and yours looks GREAT! Wonderful job on a not so wonderful kit!
FordRodnKustom Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Outstanding build of a less that perfect old tool kit. Shows what some creativity, determination and guts can accomplish. Nice job!
