Mike Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 My friend Mark and I entered in to a simple build-off using the Revell kit. I opted for the stock route, and tried to keep it in the late 70's vibe with earth tone colors etc. The only after market items we allowed each other were flocking, distro wiring, and wheels. I used Shabo tire decals from Strada Sports. Thanks for looking.
Darrell Gwinn Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 (edited) Looks good. A friend of my dad used to have a real one about that same color. Edited March 31, 2008 by Dirk
RodneyBad Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Came out really nice. THose box stock builds are a toughy. Nice work on the interior and dash. Over all attention to detail in Good. Nice Camaro..
ismaelg Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 That looks very nice. It is not just a well done cool model of a cool car, but a time machine. The moment I saw the first pic I was transported back in time Thanks,
LVZ2881 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Absolutely gorgeous build!!! really made that dated kit look great!! I have owned 4 1:1 79-81 Z28's and love seeing these kits built. I have a few of these kits to build my first car, a red on red '79 Z28, but I need to fgure out the best way to fill in the t-tops to make a hardtop. I'm really interested in how you did the wheels, to mask of the trim ring to get it chrome and the rim painted. 1 piece of advice for anyone building this kit, and i often see it missed (even Alex Kustov missed it on his build in SA) from the lower body down( below the stripes) on the fender, door , and quarter, should be semi-gloss black...and the recess in the door handle should be semi-gloss black as well.... a couple little details I thought I would contribute to anyone building this kit...
Mike Posted April 2, 2008 Author Posted April 2, 2008 I'm really interested in how you did the wheels, to mask of the trim ring to get it chrome and the rim painted. Two words - LIQUID MASK. I love the stuff. Thank you all for the kind comments. This is a simple and fun kit and goes together rather well. It'd be a great kit for a beginner or someone looking for a stress free build.
LVZ2881 Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Mike, what brand liquid mask, and where did you get it??
Mike Posted April 2, 2008 Author Posted April 2, 2008 Mike, what brand liquid mask, and where did you get it?? Bob Dively Model Aircraft Inc. is the only thing on the container besides "Liquid Masking Film". I bought it from my LHS Hobbytown USA about 2 years ago.
