Looking  for how 2 advise to replicate the carb fuel lines for  2x4 intake. I know a lot of flks use the braided lines but in 1960ties steel lines were the way of the world. What should I use to replicate steel lines, what is correctl size of line and how do I get lines going to the carbs to float above the intake manifold? I have fuel filters from Pro Tech already. Those steel lines are roughly 3/8" in diameter. Stiff steel wire works well to represent them. 3/8 of an inch is .375". Divide by 25 for 1/25 scale, you get .015". There are lots of sources for wire that's silver-colored like this, and plenty stiff enough to hold its shape just like the real tube does. You can also use brass wire and color it.

I've got lots of stuff like this in various diameters I've acquired over the years, like stainless safety-wire, picture-hanging wire from the hardware store, and things you can find at craft stores.

A neat little trick if you're looking to replicate the steel lines with the rubber tubing on the ends is to find a piece of black coated wire about the size you want & then strip off the coating to form your steel sections.

Before you install them, slip small pieces of the black coating back onto the ends to replicate the rubber tubing.

If you want to take it a step further, you can wrap pieces of a smaller gauge stripped wire around the ends of the rubber tubing to replicate the clamps.

The filters in the photo would be easy to do as well.

I'm thinking just pieces of sprue shaped into the barrel shape & then wrap a thin piece of wire around the center & paint them aluminum.

I'll use diodes for the fuel filter and their attachment wire for fuel line.

X2....  what I use all the time.  Get them cheap on amazon.

26 or 28 ga. bead wire works for me. I bought a spool @ Hobby Lobby many years ago & still have quite a bit.

I'm not a fan of diodes or resistors for fuel filters, mainly because they look like diodes & resistors to me.

I use them often as well, when I really don't want to mess around too much with a fuel filter.

Occasionally I'll make my own filters if they're something a little more unusual.

If you have any musician friends, steel guitar and violin strings work well for fuel lines. They are spring steel so they hold their shape. They come in lots of different sizes. The wound strings and nylon strings are also useful. Most musicians just throw them away.

A good place to look is somewhere that sells jewelry supplies. I have gotten several different gauges of wire at JoAnns and Hobby Lobby. They have a lot of small tools that I use all the time on builds.
