MrBuick Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I've got a Revell '70 Torino GT in the build queue...haven't started it yet, but it looks like it'll build up nicely.
JollySipper Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 There's a member called slammedi'am that has built a stellar example of one....... just search for him in "members" then look at his profile...... I just took a look at it, it's really nice.............
unclescott58 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 (edited) just wanna know if anyone`s done this one Two things. Done what? And in 1970 Ford did not offer a "Grand Torino." They built Torinos. But the first year for a car called a Gran Torino (note: not Grand) was 1972. Edited February 25, 2016 by unclescott58
Dave Van Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 As said......Gran Torino first year was 1972.........They did also make a 'TORINO' in 1972-73 that was a simpler base model version. A buddy of mine had a 1972 Torino in HS.......different than a Gran Torino. A 1972 Gran Torino Sportroof.......

By the way, Torino started off as a higher level Fairlane in '68. And replaced the Fairlane name completely by 1971.

Thats the point I was making....having built MANY Torino's 68-76 I like my Torinos!!

'75 and '76 base Torinos took on the same front end styling as the Gran Torinos. But, they were still there. Edited February 25, 2016 by unclescott58

Maindrian Pace Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 The Torino had the plain, rather homely front end styling, the fancier models had the familiar S&H style front end.
Dave Van Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Taxi's and police cars.....maybe why none left!! thx

Look at the '74 above. That has a face only a mother could love. At least the '75 and 6's got the Gran Torino style front end. But, they were still pretty bare bones cars. For the little more it cost to move up a Gran Torino, I'm sure most people felt it was worth the price. The plain, non-Gran Torino I'm sure were mostly used as police cars, taxis, or in other fleet type service. But they were out there. Here's one you won't find in any of the regular sales brochures after 1974. For fleet use only, Ford continued offering a Custom 500 model. But, this was strictly for fleet only, so you will not find it in the regular full-size Ford or full line brochures. The plain Torino you will. Both the plain Torino and Custom 500 appeared in the seperate police and taxi brochures for several years. Edited February 25, 2016 by unclescott58
