Craig Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 This build was a lot of fun, and I got to watch alot of classic Hawaii Five-0 as a bonus as research. The kit is the AMT Police Interceptor. I didn't really do any modifying other than the HPD colour scheme and shield that I found online. I did grubby up the backseats however, to take into account the number of murderers, pushers, pimps, hookers, syndicate hoods and mainland torpedoes who have passed through it's reardoors, not to mention, Wo Fat whom I'd like to think took his last ride in such a car. And I did make the mic button red. Book 'em Danno! Murder One! Four counts!

Craig Posted March 31, 2016 Author Posted March 31, 2016 Great build and dead on accurate. I am waiting for Danny to show up now in has black Custom 500 !!!Thanks! My Holy Grail would be McGarrett's 68 Parklane. Maybe some day... Aloha!
American 185 Heavy Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Craig, nothing would make me happier than to build that gorgeous all black 68 Park Lane Brougham 4dr hardtop or that equally gorgeous black 74 Marquis Brougham 4 dr. But we will be fed more Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes before that ever happens. I could never figure out why a model company didn't snatch up the rights to it, and offer modelers the most recognizable cop car in the world, the 68 Park Lane. I always thought when I was younger, JoHan might but they just never did...you would think by now, someome would have offered it in resin.

Anyway, a resin kit would be cool. Over the decades there have been some really cool 4dr cars, and no kits of them. I think that would open up a whole new area for people who want to affordably build movie/TV vehicles, more vehicles from their past in general, and the broadening of using ones imagination. Even Ward Cleaver drove a couple of nice cars that would look nice on the shelf!
American 185 Heavy Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) Don't know if you know the history of the 68 he drove, but it was in storage for over two decades in a warehouse in Hawaii under dirt, props, you name it. The cars interior was destroyed by several mongooses until a collector saved it and fully restored it. Its home is currently Ohio with the actual plates from Hawaii on it, and I have seen the car at a show in Pennsylvania once. It is simply incredible in person. I doubt anyone will ever produce a kit of this car, a true shame. The market seems to be Mustang after Mustang, Camaro and Firebirds every 4 months, and heaven help us lets not forget the Corvette. And I agree 100%, there were some fabulous 4 doors out there in the 60's and 70's. The Olds 98, the 70's Lincoln Town Car, the big Chrysler New Yorker, and of course the gorgeous Marquis/Grand Marquis 74-78. If no one has done it in 20 years, I think no one ever will. A true shame because like us, there are a lot of lovers of the land yachts out there. The last big Mercury kit I remember ever seeing was the 66 Park Lane 2 door, which I did build. But after that it was the Comet and Cyclone in drag and funny car version only sadly. Edited April 1, 2016 by American 185 Heavy

So glad it is being preserved! I've always liked the 2dr Lincoln Continental from the mid-70's, a 2dr so big its hood is like a flightdeck! It's funny, during the energy crisis the muscle cars got smaller, but the sedans and luxury cars got bigger and bigger!
American 185 Heavy Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Jack Lords 74 Marquis was given to his stunt double and in 2001 the car was still on the road approaching close to 200k miles.
