So once again im waiting for parts for my other builds and im impatient so starting on my next build. Doing a street rod 57 bel air. Love making chevy's. Anyways made a decent amount of progress on this today. Doing some slight mods to it. Will have somewhat different interior, 70 camaro wheels and thinking bout a cowl hood but undecided on that yet. Will be a pearl blue with metal flake( not sure if i should go two wont or not. Second color would be metal flake silver or white) Anyways heres some pics of what ive got done so far. Let me know what you guys think questions and comments encouraged.

Here are the wheels i will be using. Theh will be chromed. Also aimiing for this stance. Also have the interior mocked up. Using 66 nova pro street front seats, 69 camaro center console and shifter. Will add clutch pedal when completed. Let me know what you guys think of the interior. I like it but questioning whether it goes at the same time. I know the seat prints are different but im ok with that. The interiror will have black carpeting, blue inserts in the seats and door panels and grey leather for the rest

Not a big fan of two tone unless the colors are more pastel or neutral, so id shoot it just like the 1:1 if it were me. Im curious to see how those Z28 wheels will look once theyre chromed.....

Honestly i am curious too. I will be opening them Up more than they are but i think they should come out decent. Alclad is still in the mail so cant try it yet.

Got the front suspension, rear suspension and rear end in today. Also began making the holes in the wheels wider. You can see the before and after. I think they look alot better this way. Need to sand out some of the rough spots then prime and chrome. I also chopped the exhaust right after the mufflers and started painting them like cherrybombs (i know they arnt glasspacks). Made an optima yellow top battery and did some more detail on the motor and tinted the carb. Got the mold lines sanded, door lines etched and body and hood primed. Will do another light sanding in the morning then hoping to start painting on the body and interior tomorrow. Let me know what you guys think.

Got first stages of paint on the body and interior. I have to say i usually use tamiya paint but saw the createx pearl blue at hobby lobby and figured id give it a shot. Sprayed awesomely very easy to work with. And i have to say...... Im in love. This is my favorite color and didnt have to mix it with anything to get the right shade. The flake in it is so nice in the sun. The interior is a flat blue. Once its dry i will tape it off and add the grey and decals. The body will be getting alclad if i can figure it out and feel comfotable with it. Wil try the wheels first before i touch the body. If not ill foil it. Messed up the hood tho. Dropped it while spraying and smudged it so have to strip it and repaint but not bad. Anyways let me know what you guys think.

So went to test out the alclad II today. Painted my spoons gloss black two days ago and let them sit. Anyways i start spraying and start seeing a rainbow look to the flakes and was quite puzzled. Tried another spoon and same thing. It wasnt until spraying a second layer and noticing the colors intensifying that i looked that the bottle of alclad. Well just so happens that instead of sending chrome to me i recieved "holomatic spectral-chrome". So im fairly unhappy. Contacted the ebay seller and they reassured me it was their mistake and they will send me the chrome and i can keep this bottle. Welp that was my setback that bursted my bubble for today.

lol, well that's interesting. At least you tested it first and didn't have to deal with stripping model parts. What would one use this color for, I wonder?

Lol hippy wagon? Lol think it would be cool to mist over a pearl color as a top flake. If it came out clean it would look neat. But ill keep it and figure something out

I agree with everyone else on the effect from the Holomatic Chrome. This could be used for an appearance on select parts that you may have never considered before.

Im not sure i plan to test it out with some different scenarios. However it is a laquer base and 99% of the paints i work with are water based. Just like working with them better. So not sure how they would work together. Would probably have to let it set for a while before shooting the candy

Would it work as a base coat for some kandy paint?
