I assume this is a reissue of an older kit but not sure.  Can anyone comment on the overall quality of this kit?

Thanks in advance!

It's mid-90s AMT/Ertl era stuff so it's as "modern" as any kit you'd get out of Round2 until the new '16 Camaro comes out.  IMHO one of the better ones they did back then.

This is the Round2 retro box 67 Impala with 1990s ERTL designed kit.

The original will never come back as  the .67 body was converted into a custom blanked out rear window  kit in 1968 The frame and engine is now part of the 1970 Impala.

Only issue I have with it is, something isn't right about the roof or the windows in the C-pillar area. Not sure exactly what the problem is but it just doesn't look right to me. Someday I will sit down with that body and good photos of the real thing and figure out what's wrong and how to fix it. It might be as simple as a few file strokes.

To my eyes, the shape is too rounded, and doesn't have the right "swoop". Kinda hard to express in words, but it never seemed quite right to me either. Not so sure it's fixable with a file-----me thinks it needs a bit more than that.........

The Round 2 issue includes side view mirrors that weren't in earlier issues of this kit.

Yah, I'm afraid you're right...I was just trying to be optimistic.

I just bought a cheap glue bomb Monogram 1/24 '69 Camaro to harvest its roof. One of my AMT '67 Impalas will be the organ recipient and hopefully be reborn as a Biscayne or Bel Air 2DS--the roof shapes are surprisingly similar.

I have a resin "Old Too"l SS427, and one of the "New Tool" SS427, and have built both. Personally aside from the mount of the glass, I like the new one better. It may not be completely right, but I am happy with mine.

Thanks for your input guys.  I think I'll try to pick one up this weekend.  I just like the subject matter too much...

Agreed. Very well-done model. Chassis is a great donor for a lot of resin or to dress up an old annual.

Here is an original body.  I don't have the reissue for comparison.  Click on the picture to see it full scale.

What I see is, the wheelwells are larger, rear window is larger, and there is too much of a crown on the roof!

In the new kit or the original?

The wheel openings on the '67 and '68 Impalas were huge. '69 too, come to think of it.

Unless you compare different tools of the same model, you don't see the differences. There is no going back to the 50 year old tool.

The new tool is what i was referring to, you would only see it if you put the two side by side, in my opinion. The new tool has the overall look, I would not

bother to change it. Snake45 You are right, the wheelwell openings on those years '67,'68 and'69 were large and odd shaped. Those wheelwells are bigger

in diameter on the new tool.

If this is a shot of the old tool, I like the roof line of the new tool a lot better.Just wish tthey had kept the custom version parts in this release too. If they want to redo this kit to make it right, do a four door small block version, there's more than a few of us that would build the Supernatural car if we had the right kit.

Since I have a half dozen of the custom version, and a couple of nice resin flat hoods I'm passing this time around.

Got the hoods off eBay, wish I remember who made them, they're removed from the box they came in and taped in place on the bodies of the kits, I learned the hard way that you don't leave resin hoods laying around in the box loose.

I would bug Revell on a Super natural kit.

Any one care to post pics of whats in the  ox please.

It's too dark in my ox to get good pictures. Plus, seeing what comes out of him, I don't think I want to see whats inside an ox! ?
