This is the Gr9. Although coloured markings are shown in the plans and on the box, only black lettered markings are provided.

I'm not up to speed on the wires between wings and frame as yet.

I understand that these were used to train new pilots.

What you meant was WWII. They use Roman numerals, not our numbers, to designate WWI and WWII.

Are you going to add the markings and the rigging?

World War Eleven???

The proof is out. Time travelers from the future are here. I just knew it.

Cool models by the way, Patrick. I have a soft spot for sticks-and-linen aircraft.

Odd what they did to the swastidoodle. Revisionist history marches on.

Considering it's illegal to display a swastika in Germany, I guess they had to put something there.  But if they weren't Luftwaffe aircraft, would they have swastikas anyway?

Not the rigging as I said earlier I'm not experienced with aircraft rigging. The decals may go on today.

Thanks Ace-Garageguy. Yes although the red and black logo was shown on the box they are not part of the decal sheet.

As far as I can ascertain they were Lufwaffe created gliders for training pilots so would normally have had Swastikas shown but even the red backed logo's are not on the decal sheet.

Really depends on the specific time period and location. Gliding was a popular sport in Germany pre-WW II (as it remains today) and there were numerous clubs whose aircraft would have had only civilian markings. Germany was training pilots in Russia for a time prior to the war as well.

This old photo shows a glider-trainer, not the same type, but clearly marked.

Thanks for that Bill, interesting to see the flag on the tailfin! As it seems to have an all enveloping body it may well be a later model.

The rigging on these is pretty simple. Go by the box art and use silver or gray thread to simulate the steel cables. I bet you could do it. B)

I finished building the SG38 today. The difference between this and the GR9 is the main wing comes in two halves and the tailplane is squared off.

I hope to lay up both sets of decals (what there are) in the next few days.
