extmcdriver Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Hey Guys, I have always liked the look of the old Freightliner Cabovers. We all know the issues with the AMT version of the 86" cab. As you can see from the photos, plenty of mods were made. The engine is a combination of two Detroit V8s' modified to replicate a V12. The headache rack is scratch built. There is an air ride suspension instead of the Reyco spring set up. Thanks for viewing!!!! 1
Harry P. Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Ok, I'm not a truck modeler and don't know a whole lot about them, so possibly a stupid question... but why the silver tape on the front corners of the cab?
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Nice!! I like the engine choice and paint job!!! Updating the doors and the steps are a nice touch!
angelo7 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Great looking color scheme. And those two hole wheels are nice. Wish model trucks included those wheels.
extmcdriver Posted May 13, 2016 Author Posted May 13, 2016 Harry, the little chrome deflectors are on the front of the cab kept the doors from getting caked with road BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. By time II got in to trucking, most of the cabovers were history. Thanks to everyone for their comments!!!
signguy2108 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Another nice build. I remember an old brown ford cabover around here with painted "wings" on it, never did understand the thinking behind them.
kilrathy10 Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Oh, Man.....She's a beauty.....Awesome job on all of it.....Just too nice....
gatorincebu Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 What's not to like ? Classic paint job, two hole wheels on the rear, and Driptroit under the cab ! Works for me ! Be Well Gator
towman1271 Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Another good lookin rig.. I like the subtle add ons you do on all ur builds
Ack! Ack-ack! Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Beautiful paintwork! Dividing the red and the white areas by golden pinstripes achieves a perfect effect.
GearUpJammer Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Nice,I see you like the same era of trucking as me.Great job on this one!
