mchook Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Great build. I want to do a 1979 Ranchero so I was wondering what you started with to make this?
feretzrus Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Beautiful! Was there a base model you started with, or just sheet plastic? Fantastic work!
Starliner Kustoms Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Thats cool! always wanted to do a replica of my old Cougar which is also a 77.
Dave Van Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 (edited) Wish someone would do a plastic 77 Thunderbird......we could use it as a start for a number of conversions. Edited May 31, 2016 by Dave Van
MrObsessive Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Dave, I keep looking at that Starsky and Hutch Torino...........and some crazy ideas are going through my mind. This was basically the same car with some obvious sheet metal changes. In fact, if I were to get REALLY crazy, a 1977-79 Lincoln MK V could come out of this too. Of course, a wheelbase stretch would be needed. These were brand new in my waning days of high school and are one of my favorites out of the '70's. Along with GM's 1973-77 "Colonnade" coupes which we DESPERATELY could use more kits of! Just some wild ideas rolling around in my "Obsessive" mind......................
Dave Van Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 The LTD II shares A pillars and windshield/roof front with S&H so something to start with....but more than I am able to do.
MrObsessive Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 The LTD II shares A pillars and windshield/roof front with S&H so something to start with....but more than I am able to do. That's what I was thinking...............some serious surgery for sure, but with some patience something I'd like to take on down the road. I'm not holding my breath for one of the kit makers to come out with one.
