landman
I had bought this to use the cab in an attempt to create a GMC B9000. After I found the GMC resin cab this went back in the box. I decided to put the body back together and assemble the kit. I will use an SS454 motor I got with some junk engines. landman
Body work is coming along. Having a bit of difficulty making that seam disappear. Started on the interior. Built the 283 anyway. It'll go in the engine display. A few touch ups and a fuel line and she's pretty well done. There is no fuel pump. I'll have to cobble one. landman
And we have paint. Nice texture but awfully slow drying stuff. Edited December 26, 2020 by landman
landman
Completed the 283. Made a transfer case sifter and a 4 speed shifter. I guess I'll have to change the tranny on the 454. Edited December 26, 2020 by landman
landman
Dry fitted the kit's suspension to measure the width of tread and ride height. Mocked up the resin suspension to check the difference. Enormous. Much mods will be required to keep the wheels within the fenders and the ride height reasonable. landman
Modified the springs to bring the ride height down. Getting close. Here are the mods to the rears. Edited December 26, 2020 by landman
landman
Tread width has been finalized. Had to play with the front differential offset to get it to sit within the springs. Installed the axles. Ride height will be OK. The front of the cab will go down when I open up the frame slots to clear the extra width of the spring support plates. Had to file notches in the motor mounts to clear the exhaust manifolds. Next step is to line up the transfer case. landman
Since the front differential in on a different plane than the transfer case, it will require an inclined driveshaft. Separated the yokes to achieve the "bend". Meanwhile found two other places of interference, thwo of the cross members will interfere with the front driveshaft and the bottom of the cab interferes with the top of the transfer case. landman
I don't know about magic Marc, it is more involved than I anticipated. On second thought, magic may well be required.

landman
Started painting details on the dash, hood, etc. Found some shock absorbers. the singles are from the bin, the doubles from a NASCAR racer. Tried my hand at woodgraining. Rather pukey if you ask me. Edited December 26, 2020 by landman

landman
Pat, Every thing is looking really good.! I really like the moderate ride height > I like that . Be Well GatorIt may wind up being a tad higher than anticipated as I had to rise the rear to correct a "hind down" appearance. But it shouldn't end up looking like a monster truck. Seriously i like a truck with a more practical and realistic ride height for evryday use on , say highway driving to , unimproved roads to no roads . The kind of driving you might experience if you were working in construction .And driving your truck on site . Say on a highway job. What I am really trying to say is. While I understand the whole jack em up to the skye for mud bogging or whatever. I like 4x4's and a truck that has a more moderate ride height.
