In the '60s, the Ramcharger team, I think from California, built 3, I believe, of these light weight vehicles using strait  front axles.  I've heard that these axles came from the Dodge van like the one used in the "Little Red Wagon".  I have both these kits but the axle from the "L.R.W." looks pretty narrow. Any comments would be appreciated.  Thanks.      P.S. I heard that all 3 of these vehicles were crashed in short order.  One was restored I think.  It had a 3-tone paint job.

The only 64 Dodge that ran a straight axle that I'm aware of was Landys silver car ( it still exists today )

I'm not saying it didn't exist back then,,,Just this Is the first I've ever heard of it and I've never seen  pictures of a Ramchargers car with a straight axle .

The axle looks pretty narrow here.

Just for the record,,,this isn't a straight axle car.

Its one of the 2% cars,,,,,its  where the front suspension is moved forward ever so slightly

Whoops! You are correct. I am thinking of the Dodge Chargers, but, even they had stock style setups.

And the Rams AF/X car had a factory style setup as well.

I had in mind the "Dodge Chargers" that were supercharged.  And Landy's was the one with the strait axle.  The photo of the "Hodges Dodges Ramcharger" at Detroit Drag Way looks to me like it has a strait axle because it is so narrow.  I appeal to DaddyFink.  In all these photos there is pictured a '64 Ramcharger and a '65 Ramcharger.  I welcome any and all comments ('cause I'm a big boy!)

Just going back through the Ramchargers book I could find no reference to them using a straight front axle set up.

That's funny, I am doing the same thing! LOL!

I'd say a straight axle on a Mopar would only have been after the Hemis came out with Hilborn injection, and the Match race scene, starting late '65.

Maybe Mr. Norm, or a car from this period.

Darts and Barracudas, meaning '66 would be a good year for starting.

The Ramchargers built a Dart from scratch, I'm sure it would've had a straight axle.

OK; thanks ever body!  This '64 Dodge 330 "Dodge Charger", I think I'm going to build it with the strait-axle (unless I get alot of hate mail!).  I just won't put "Dodge Charger" on the side.  I think there is a 'saying' among car-modelers, "if you thinks it's cool, it is cool"!  Thanks again.

There were many independents that built a.w.b.s with straight axles. Why not build a fictional car that "could have been"?

I was just reading about that in the Landy book the other day. Landy put in a letter to NHRA saying that since that axle was used in the van, which was licensed/titled as a regular passenger car, it should be allowed in Modified Production. And apparently NHRA agreed to this! :o
