Porscheman Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 I've been looking for one of these for years. I finished this one in in primer grey with Testors wet look clear top coat to look like dove grey. The top, trim and interior are done with Restoleum caret wine. I also tinted the glass with Tamiya clear blue. Thanks for looking. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki 3
1972coronet Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 WHOA! Reminds me of my parents' 1976 Monarch coupe Ghia ( 351 Windsor ; silver with 'cranberry' inteerior, silsilver 'opera" top ) .Ive been looking for one of those Lindberg kits for forever !
charger74 Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Now that is totally different !!! It sure looks really good
droogie Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Nice! I actually owned one of those back in the day.
CometMan Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Very nice, Al! My parents had a '76 Monarch they bought new, they are pretty under-rated when compared against other cars of that era.
Tom Geiger Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 That's a pretty good job Al, that kit isn't all that great as a starting point! That was the IT car of 1976. The color scheme was Mercedesque. In 1976 I painted my 1966 Valiant silver to match it's red interior. About 10 years later I had a 1977 Mercury Monarch 4 door Ghia in Dove Grey with a blue bucket interior. It was unusual to have a sedan with buckets, console and floor shifter.
Sledsel Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Very Cool!!!Would love to see that car in 1/25...... I know, it will never happen.
slusher Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Super nice Al. I knew a guy who had a white one with blue interior...
ChrisBcritter Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Good job! In the early eighties my boss had one that was triple gray; very pretty car. I've got one of these that needs the chrome redone (it's clear plastic underneath ) and a taillight (luckily they interchange side to side so I can cast a copy).
carman1 Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Very nice, I never knew that car existed in model form, my parents had a 77 4door that my sister used to learn how to parallel park, it was easier than the 1973 Pontiac Grandville they also had !
cobraman Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 There is one you don't see everyday. Looks great ! I have been looking for the Lindberg Cordoba for a long time. See one on ebay once in awhile but they sell for more than I am willing to spend.
bismarck Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Wow that brings back memories!!! Its seemed like half the neighborhood owned one of those back in the day. Neat kit.
ZIL 111V Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Very, very nice work! some of those 1/32 Lindberg car kits of the 70s are great looking, really nice curbside kit series for the times. Also reminds me of one of my great grand uncle who bought a brand new white/burgundy interior, 2dr coupe Granada back in 1975, also got the same kit back in 78 at local K-Mart!
Tom Geiger Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Also reminds me of one of my great grand uncle who bought a brand new white/burgundy interior, 2dr coupe Granada back in 1975, also got the same kit back in 78 at local K-Mart!Agreed. These are cars that we have never seen in 1/25 scale and otherwise wouldn't have in any scale. Note that within the series, scale actually varies, almost like Matchbox cars do. Also, the interiors are pretty generic. But shelf wise, they're great especially when painted nicely and detailed out the way we see in Al's car.
THarrison351 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 (edited) Good looking car, I too wish it had been done in 1/25 scale. My first car to own was a '75 4 door Ghia, white with turquoise top and interior. Good, reliable car, traded it for a new '85 Escort Edited September 15, 2016 by THarrison351 update
RancheroSteve Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 (edited) Nice build! The front disc brakes on my Ranchero came from a junkyard Granada - a well-known low budget swap for Falcons and Mustangs before the supply dwindled. Edited September 15, 2016 by RancheroSteve
Fanof69 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 That really takes me back. My parents had a light blue 76'. Nicely Done!!
Reeves Racing Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Now there's one you don't see often...Looks like the 1 to 1 car I harvested the disc brakes off of to put on my 68 Mustang.
Sixties Sam Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Great build of an unusual subject! Good work!Sam
Funkychiken Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Great build! I've never seen one of these before, in real life, or as a kit, and I kind of like the colour combo too.
oldcarfan Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Love what you've done with this. My parents had in dark brown a matching vinyl top. I didn't like it then, but now I seem to have a soft spot for it!
